They told us our local “Ishtory” wouldn’t travel. We took it straight to New York anyway. 🗽✨

When we first began shaping "Suresh Aur Ramesh Ki Ishtory", we knew we were taking a risk. We didn’t build it around glossy formulas or international trends. We bet on raw, grounded characters, sharp wit, deep emotion, and a uniquely rooted Indian pulse.

At times, the hardest part of independent cinema isn't making the film—it's wondering if an audience across the globe will connect with your humor, feel your silence, and understand your world.

Last night, the jury at the 2026 New York Indie Film Festival answered that question louder than we ever dreamed.

Not with one honor. Not with two.

"Suresh Aur Ramesh Ki Ishtory" swept 13 major awards:

🏆 Best Short Film

🏆 Best Comedy Film

🏆 Best Drama

🏆 Best Hindi Film

🏆 New York Emerging Filmmaking Honor

🏆 Best Producers: Shrivas Nydu & Madhukar Mhaske

🏆 Best Background Score: Dr. Arpan Bhatt

🏆 Best Production Design: Anirudh Mhaske

🏆 Best Screenplay: Shrivas Nydu

🏆 Best Dialogue: Shrivas Nydu

🏆 Best Supporting Role - Male

🏆 Best Editor: Shrivas Nydu

🏆 Best Director: Shrivas Nydu

A huge salute to every technician, artist, and crew member of Team SARKI who put their soul into this frame by frame.

Every festival win is validating, but walking away with recognition across storytelling, visuals, music, and performance on a global stage hits differently. It proves that the more personal and culturally honest your story is, the more universal it becomes.

ONE MAN. TWO BROTHERS. FIFTEEN WINS. 🎬🏆

Some films need a huge cast.
Some need elaborate sets.
And then there are films that simply need a story, a camera, and the courage to do something differently.

“Suresh Aur Ramesh Ki Ishtory” — a solo performance comedy film by Shrivas Nydu — has just turned that unconventional idea into a remarkable festival achievement.

At the 9th Tamil Nadu International Film Awards, the film has emerged as a winner across 15 categories! 🏆🏆🏆

What makes the achievement even more interesting is the film itself.

“Suresh Aur Ramesh Ki Ishtory” is a witty, monologue-driven reimagining of Munshi Premchand’s “Bade Bhai Sahab”, built around the relationship between two brothers—one carefree, one disciplined—and the strange, funny and emotional space between responsibility, failure, ambition and growing up.

And the most unusual part?

One performer brings the entire world of the brothers to life.

The film uses comedy, irony and direct-to-camera storytelling to turn a familiar literary relationship into a contemporary cinematic experience.

From acting to writing, direction to editing, from story to sound, this one-person cinematic experiment has now collected recognition across an extraordinary range of categories.

15 categories.
One film.
One performer.
One very unconventional cinematic journey.

And perhaps that is the real story behind this win:

When you don't have a crowd behind the camera, sometimes the story itself has to become the crowd. ❤️🎬

Congratulations to Shrivas Nydu, Madhukar Mhaske, Dr. Arpan Bhatt, Rupesh Hodavdekar and the entire team of “Suresh Aur Ramesh Ki Ishtory.”

The brothers came to tell an ishtory.
The festivals are turning it into a celebration. 🏆✨

🎬 SOME STORIES DON’T NEED A BIG CAST. THEY NEED A BIG IDEA.
14 wins. One film. One performer.
That’s the latest chapter in the journey of Suresh Aur Ramesh Ki Ishtory, a Shrivas Nydu film, which has emerged among the winners in 14 categories at the 7th Indian Independent Film Festival. 🏆
What makes this recognition particularly interesting is the film itself:
One man plays every character.
A solo-performance film that takes Munshi Premchand’s Bade Bhai Sahab and turns it into a contemporary, witty and cinematic experience—where comedy, conflict, brotherhood and growing up all share the same frame.
And the experiment has travelled.
From festival selections and screenings to international recognition and media coverage, Suresh Aur Ramesh Ki Ishtory continues to add new laurels to its journey.

The Indian Independent Film Festival describes itself as an international competition dedicated to independent filmmakers, with monthly editions leading toward its annual awards.
For me, the most satisfying part isn't simply the number of awards.
It's the fact that a small, independent experiment in acting and storytelling is finding its way into the larger film-festival conversation.
Thank you to everyone who has watched, supported, written about and believed in this unusual little film.
The story continues.
