UPSIDE DOWN DRAWING
There are many ways to master the art of drawing. We can trace, use a grid or we can copy images from art books to name just a few.
What does it mean?
Upside down drawing is a favorite method of mine as it enhances my ability to see only lines and shapes. We examine the length in a line, the curve in a line and its distance and relations to other lines.
So even if you have a little clue about the feature or image, ignore it. Just follow line, curves, angles and directions.The outcome of the process followed is outstanding.
Purpose:
To force your left (thinking) side of the brain to give up identifying what you draw. It helps you notice of how your mind turns off when you actually don't have an idea of what you are producing. So guys isnt it fun to try it?
Tips to draw
If you are copying and feel confused by a large picture, try placing a paper over the picture and reveal one portion at a time. Copy the picture as it is, without being tempted to turn it right side up. Don't hesitate to erase. Keep your mind purposely blank and refuse it to identify the object you are portraying.
