Before mythology became a television trend, Mahima Shani Dev Ki created a spiritual revolution on Indian television.
Airing from 2008 to 2012 on NDTV Imagine, the show became more than just a TV serial - it became a symbol of faith for millions. It also marked Mr. Shiv Sagar’s first television venture, carrying forward the legendary mythological legacy of the Sagar family into a new era.

What many people don’t know is that the original concept of the show was envisioned by Late Shri Prem Sagar back in 1992 and finally came alive years later on screen. The impact of the series was so powerful that, according to a Mumbai Mirror report, the number of Shani temples across India increased from around 40 to nearly 400 during the telecast of the show. 🙏

Daya Shankar Pandey was chosen to portray Shani Dev because of his intense screen presence, powerful eyes, and calm yet commanding personality. His performance became unforgettable and is still remembered by audiences today.

The show consistently remained among the Top 2-3 highest-rated programs on NDTV Imagine throughout its run and even achieved an impressive 2 TVR rating - a remarkable milestone for a weekend devotional show.
Its journey continued when the reruns on Dangal TV during 2019–20 once again became a massive success, turning the show into the No. 1 rated program in the country and helping Dangal become one of India’s top television channels.

Mahima Shani Dev Ki was not just a television show - it became a spiritual phenomenon in the history of Indian television. 🙏

A little behind-the-scenes story from the iconic Ramayan (1987)

Did you know that the adorable Baby Hanuman you saw on screen was played by Amar Sagar son of Anand Sagar and grandson of the legendary Ramanand Sagar?

But here’s the fun part… he didn’t say yes right away.
Like any child, Amar needed a little motivation. And that’s when his father and grandfather came up with a classic move they tempted him with a remote control car

Yes, the deal was simple:
Play Baby Hanuman… and the car is yours.

And just like that, one of television’s most memorable portrayals of Baby Hanuman was born all thanks to a little childhood excitement and a very irresistible toy.
