Inaugurated in 1969, the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai, is India’s premier cultural institution. The first multi-venue, multi-purpose cultural centre to be built in South Asia, it has been committed since its inception to promoting and preserving the country’s rich and vibrant traditions in music, dance and theatre, as well as catalyzing new and innovative work in the field of

the performing arts. With five modern theatres, two galleries and extensive archival and library facilities located in the heart of Mumbai’s downtown business district, the NCPA presents more than 500 events each year across all major art forms. It is recognised by artists, patrons and the media alike to be among the world’s foremost venues for the performing arts.

Jayateerth Mevundi, one of the foremost exponents of the Kirana gharana, and Padma Talwalkar, celebrated for her Jaipur and Gwalior gayaki, come together to present the works of Sadarang, Ramashreya Jha (Ramrang), Abdul Karim Khan and Jagannathbua Purohit (Gunidas).

Shobanaa Bhalchandra's Bharatanatyam production Aham Pravahini explores the dilemma a river faces before merging with the ocean, inspired by Khalil Gibran's poem Fear.

Urjataranga, by Amruta Paranjape, celebrates the energy, rhythm and expressive depth of Kathak through traditional repertoire and original choreographies.
