Akanksha’s annual goal setting retreat gave the Art for Akanksha team another chance to pause, reflect, and reconnect.
Every team created a model to share their journey. It was inspiring to walk around and see each team's story come to life.
Our’s was simply about ‘Changing perspectives’ around art and children and how powerful their voices can be and our piece of art demonstrated that.
"It was not just Art. It was much more..."
Looking back at everything we achieved, it was a reminder that our work goes far beyond creating art. It's about changing perspectives, amplifying children's voices, and creating opportunities that have a lasting impact.

June and July have been our months for getting teachers across our schools and various partnerships ready and excited about their role and nothing does it as well as getting them to create art! To experience the same joy that they want their children to…

We loved our day long workshop with the teachers at Circle U… the energy and the desire to find ways to incorporate art to meet multiple objectives.

The video we made of the Akanksha Art Show was shown to all our students across cities…
Here is what children from (BNMCEMS) Babulban Nagpur Municipal corporation English Medium School, Rakhi’s class had to say.

You can watch this too.
Go to the link in our bio to watch the show, "How the Akanksha Children Found Their Colour."

Art for Akanksha and the Attalimiyah schools at the Burhanpur Training centre… taking art in meaningful ways to more children… As one of the teachers said… Art is in every aspect of our lives and we need to learn to see that… make the time and space for it.

This show was about so much more than art…

It was about children but also told the story of so many incredible people who in their ways have shaped what art education can be by playing the roles they played…

Shaheen and the seeds she planted for the art program 30 years ago…

Srila our most ardent supporter for art who has always opened her world and let us in

Vandana who pushed us to review how art needed to be in schools

Saurabh who has believed and made sure its given its place in our schools and beyond

Sheetal who was integral in the early days of the program

So many Ex Akanksha team members who set us up for the future

Art teachers who make the program come alive and work tirelessly to hear the stories children have to tell

School teams who make sure our student voice and expression is part of their school vision.

The teams that make it possible to take art out there…

Preeti, Suman, Nida, Suraj, Yogesh and all the children who were part of the early centre art classes who taught us how art needs to be taught… and who are still telling us that all they want is to be seen…

Piyush and the many many alumni who show that its possible to follow your passion

Janvi and Sana - where is begins and what it can look like for all children

The parents who saw that no matter how old, their children still needed to be seen,

The many many many children who spent hours at the show…

The lanes of Kotochiwadi filled up over the last 9 days with 855 people who made their way to 47-A to learn ‘How the Akanksha Children found their Colours’… and we are ever so grateful.

Art for Akanksha has given children a space to create, express themselves, and share how they see the world. How the Akanksha Children Found Their Colours brings together these stories through artworks created by Akanksha students over the years.

For 3 decades we have preserved the exceptional artworks made by students. These are on display at 47 A art gallery. For us this is more than an art show. It is 30 years of Akanksha children finding their colours.

More than 350 people have already visited the exhibition. If you haven't yet, we invite you to stop by.

Visit us at 47-A, Khotachi Wadi, Girgaum. The show is on till June 7.

Art helps children share their thoughts, feelings, and stories.

Through art, children learn to explore, ask questions, work together, and express themselves.

Schoolastic magazine interviewed Ruchika Gupta to learn more about how Akanksha uses art to build essential skills.
