Dear friends,
So happy to share the trailer of our first film, Anekant Productions' 'Un Chantier d'Amour - A Scaffolding of Love'.
Synopsis: 'The days merge into one another for a single gay man locked down in his Mumbai apartment, as the pandemic wears on. Some masons work on a scaffolding around the apartment. He contemplates the seemingly insurmountable space between himself and them. All he can do is complete his chores one by one… until he comes to the last one.'
‘Un Chantier d’Amour’ - A Scaffolding of Love' (2021) is an 18-minute, non-verbal, experimental short. It was filmed over several days in a Mumbai apartment on a mobile phone. The title is a play of words on 'Un Chant d'Amour', a 1959 film by Jean Genet.

Dear friends, so pleased to share with you the poster of our new experimental 18-minute short film: a compendium of b&w static frames from within the Covid-19 lockdown confines of a Mumbai apartment with a worn-out $115 phone by our artistic director Sachin Jain. Thank you Makarand Dambhare for your skillful and thoughtful editing, Piyush Shah and Bandish Studios your generosity and talent, for a subtle yet texturally rich sound production. Beginners' luck I guess, but the film got selected to the September edition of a monthly Chilean film festival - the very first one I submitted it to (https://www.facebook.com/sfaafest). Not a big deal but FilmFreeway made me the Official Selection laurel and it just felt sooo good to have it anyways!
