Day 3 of Orientation at DSM.

The 2026–27 cohort met the people who once sat where they are now — our Alumni.

Through conversations, stories and questions, our alumni shared what their time at DSM looked like, what they carried forward, and what they wish they had known when they began.

For the new batch, it was a chance to ask, listen, connect and get a glimpse of the journey ahead.

Welcome to the DSM community, 2026–27.

Freedom gives us the space to become.
To question. To explore. To make mistakes, change our minds, find our voice and choose the person we want to become.
For artists, that freedom matters deeply. It gives us the courage to look at the world differently—and the agency to imagine what it could be.
This Independence Day, we celebrate the freedom to become who we are.
At Drama School Mumbai, we believe theatre can be a space to explore that freedom through practice, curiosity and making.
Follow Drama School Mumbai to learn more about the work we do and the journeys we support.
Happy Independence Day.

An actor’s script can quickly become a record of questions, discoveries, bad ideas, better ideas, and choices made in rehearsal.
Why does this moment affect my character?
What am I avoiding?
Where does the thought change?
Should I hold that silence a little longer?

If acting is a craft you want to understand better, follow Drama School Mumbai for more from The Actor’s Notebook, practical insights into actor training, and updates from DSM.

Some journeys begin in the classroom. Others truly begin after it.

At Drama School Mumbai, learning is the foundation—not the finish line. Through the Niloufer Sagar Alumni Production Grant (NSAPG), alumni continue to develop original theatre and bring new stories to audiences.

Inqilaab Ki Aakhiri Kisht by DSM alumnus Sikandar Khan is one such story—a solo performance that transforms personal memories into powerful theatre.

✨ Follow Drama School Mumbai to see where our alumni journeys lead.
