β€’β€’ Today is 65th Birthday of Eminent Hindustani Classical and Semi-Classical Vocalist and Guru Pandit Pradeep Dhond (born 20 May 1961) β€’β€’


Join us wishing him on his Birthday today! A short highlight on his musical career and achivements;
Pandit Pradeep Dhond is an Indian Classical Vocalist belonging to the Hindustani Classical tradition of Music. He is a graded artist at All India Radio - Mumbai. He is a "Sangeet Alankar" from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidhyalaya Mandal.
He started his basics in music from Shri. Premanand Achari and Shri. Chandrakant Parkar. Later he learned finer aspects of Hindustani Classical Music from Pandit Firoz Dastur and later continued with Pandit J. V. Bhatkhande.
Panditji has performed in a number of memorable classical, semi-classical and light music programs, lecture-demonstrations across various music circles across country.

Pradeep Dhond is also a brilliant composer and has Self-composed and sang numerous songs like Bhavgeet, Bhaktigeet (Hindi/Marathi), for Akashwani (AIR) and Doordarshan - Mumbai and also through various live concerts.

Along with singing and composing, Pradeep Dhond is also an excellent teacher of Hindustani Classical Music and light music. Panditji runs an instituteβ€œSwarasadhana Vidyalaya” at Dahisar, Mumbai, since 1991 where he guides numerous Classical, Semi-Classical and Light Music students.

β€’β€’ Remembering Eminent Tabla Maestro of Delhi Gharana Padma Shri Ustad Shafaat Ahmed Khan on his 72nd Birth Anniversary (20 May 1954 - 24 July 2005)β€’β€’


Ustad Shafaat Ahmed Khan was a noted Tabla Maestro and brilliant accompanist.
Khan, who hailed from the Delhi Gharana, was the son of Tabla master Ustad Chhamma Khan. He was a recipient of Padma Shree award in 2004. Khan had played with top classical artistes like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Jasraj and Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, besides himself as solo artist.
Khan was popular among artistes because of humble nature and down to earth attitude.
Khan was a recipient of the fourth highest Indian civilian award, Padma Shri in 2003.
He died in 2005 in New Delhi after being diagnosed with acute Hepatitis-B.
