Without the unique perspective painted so boldly by street art, it is hard to imagine the challenges faced in understanding the true pulse of a city as an outsider looking in. Aside from artists who aim to beautify the city alone, there are those who love and appreciate the cities they colour, in ways that leave you wondering at the depth of their understanding.

Here are some street art projects from around the world that have framed their cities on the walls with absolute clarity.

Over the years, female actresses have shown us that they’re worth so much more. Remember 2015? That was the year we had women coming at the forefront to bring about change in Hindi Cinema - in , in , in and in (which completes 5 years today) among others. It’s 5 years from that year, and even today, while women are proving their worth every single day, their films aren’t earning as much as they should, as much (if not more) than the films of their male counterparts. In fact, two of these films are even helmed by female directors. The men on the other hand, have given us mediocre performances in films like ( ), ( and ), ( ), ( ), ( ) and ( ). When will we, as an audience obsessed with cinema, go into the theatres for content, and not faces (or rather gender) who backs the content? Think about it, we all have a role to play...

The movement pushed women to speak up for themselves and has given them the space to demand equal rights and representation in the male dominated entertainment industry. Their contributions are often ignored or underrated and they have and continue to face constant discrimination and lack of encouragement.

Theatre is an indispensible part of mass communication. Theatrical adaptations have taken on controvercial issues which mainstream cinema may usually avoid. One such theatrical release is the play 'Dear Bapu, Love Kasturba', which deals with the marriage between the Mahatma Gandhi and his wife, Kasturba. It touches various sensitive issues not just about Gandhi's life but also its impact on his wife. Directed by Saif Hyder Hasan, it stars Arif Zakaria as Gandhi and Bollywood veteran actress Zeenat Aman as Kasturba Gandhi.
