A Humble Salutation to Guruji
on His Centenary Celebration
O beloved pathfinder,
You are not of time alone—
you are breath, rhythm, and remembrance.
From silent temple stones you awakened movement,
from devotion you shaped discipline,
and from surrender you carved beauty eternal.
Your feet traced prayer upon the earth,
your hands spoke where words fell silent,
your vision gave Odissi a soul the world could behold.
In every chauka, we feel your strength,
in every tribhangi, your grace flows on.
You taught us that dance is not display,
but sadhana—a path to the divine.
A hundred years pass like a gentle laya,
yet your presence beats in every tala we hold.
We bow, not only in reverence,
but in gratitude—for the light you lit within us.
May our dance remain our offering,
our discipline our homage,
and our lives a continuation
of the path you so selflessly showed.
