Firstly, let me thank each and everyone who contributed to my Crowdfunding Campaign for the Shivarajyabhishek Quilt. Not to forget those who did not make a monetary contribution but contributed something much more valuable- their time. Then there were those who sent me their words of encouragement and motivated me to complete it. I thank each and every one of you. I have raised almost 30% of my target of ₹3,50,000/-
Now coming to the next important part - the campaign is still up. Because making the quilt was only half the battle (and actually the easier part of the battle). Now it’s time to send it to various quilt shows across the globe. I have selected 12 major shows that I want it to be a part of. I am also open to more suggestions.
For each show, I will have to pack the quilt, insure it and ship it to and sometimes from the show. So overall it is an expensive affair.
So far I have self-funded almost two times the amount I have raised. So I would appreciate any more contributions that come in.

My quilt - Shivarajyabhishek was unveiled yesterday in Sangli. It took me about 10 months (roughly 700 hours) to make this. This 19 foot x 8 foot quilt has more than 20000 pieces in over 280 shades. Each colour that you see is a piece of fabric that has been hand cut and put in place. Finally after completing the picture it was stitched in place by my wonderful friend Manisha Iyer (Studio Baani, Pune).
Here are a few pictures of the quilt as well as the unveiling ceremony. Super thrilled to share it with all of you.

I have been using these CD marking pens to make my stencil on the Garware film. Any guesses how many pens I have used up till now??? 80% of the pattern has been traced on the film now. I can hand it over to my assistant and other volunteers to trace further. I’m hoping that the remaining 20% gets done by tonight so that I can start working on fusing the pieces.
P.S. this is my 35th pen!!!

What is the current status of the project?

Currently, I have almost completred 1/3rd of the total quilt. It has taken me more than 225 hours of painstakingly gluing over 5000 pieces of fabrics in over 90 shades to get here. But this journey has been nothing but wonderful. I cannot wait to continue it further, with your help.
I am currently working on the next section. I will not be sharing progress photos here till I finish the quilt.
If you wish to follow the progress of the quilt as it is done as well as get the inside scoop about what is happening at my studio, make a contribution of INR 100 or more (Indian contributors) or US$15 or mpre (International contributors). You will be added to an exclusive Facebook group where you will get to see the progress of the quilt daily, as well as join me in live events and fun behind-the-scenes happenings!!! You can visit https://www.ketto.org/shivarajyabhishek to make your contribution

Planning is my favorite part of any project. I keep a bullet journal and really enjoy it. When I started getting panicked about completing my Shivarajyabhishek quilt, I went to the drawing board with it. I decided to do something that will help me reduce my stress.
This is how I plan a project that is very big.

What are the expenses like?

The largest expense while the project is under production is that of material. It includes - fabric, adhesive, thread, freezer paper, interfacing, batting and a lot more.
Fabric is the largest part of this cost. I am using mostly hand dyed mottled fabric available in India and in the US. The range of cost is from INR 250 per meter to INR 1500 per meter. I want to use only the best quality of material for making the quilt. Nothing else will do justice to the subject.
The estimated cost of the material is a staggering INR 200000 . I already have personally financed about INR 50000 from my own funds.
I am seeking INR 150000 more for the material.
Apart from material required for the quilt, there are many more costs involved.
The quilt will debut at the first India Quilt Festival, Chennai, in January 2019. After that my plan is to send the quilt to be shown across the world in the various quilt shows of repute that includes, but is not limited to, the following shows.
The International Quilt Festival, Houston
The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, Oregon
The World Quilt Show, New England
Paducah Quiltweek, Paducah
The Pacific International Quilt Festival, Santa Clara
Road to California, California
Tokyo International Quilt Show, Tokyo
International Quilt Show, Dubai
Festival of Quilts, UK
Carrefour Européen du Patchwork, France
Australasian Quilt Convention, Australia
and many more.

The costs involved in sending the quilt include - Insurance, packaging and shipping. To send the quilt worldwide for two years, I am estimating a cost of another INR 150000 anually, which comes to a total of INR 300000. Out of this, I will be financing for INR 100000 out of my own funds.
So currently I am looking for a funding of INR 350000 in all to cover the costs of making the quilt, as well as to send it out to be displayed across the world.
