What are the expenses like?
The largest expense while the project is under production is that of material. It includes - fabric, adhesive, thread, freezer paper, interfacing, batting and a lot more.
Fabric is the largest part of this cost. I am using mostly hand dyed mottled fabric available in India and in the US. The range of cost is from INR 250 per meter to INR 1500 per meter. I want to use only the best quality of material for making the quilt. Nothing else will do justice to the subject.
The estimated cost of the material is a staggering INR 200000 . I already have personally financed about INR 50000 from my own funds.
I am seeking INR 150000 more for the material.
Apart from material required for the quilt, there are many more costs involved.
The quilt will debut at the first India Quilt Festival, Chennai, in January 2019. After that my plan is to send the quilt to be shown across the world in the various quilt shows of repute that includes, but is not limited to, the following shows.
The International Quilt Festival, Houston
The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, Oregon
The World Quilt Show, New England
Paducah Quiltweek, Paducah
The Pacific International Quilt Festival, Santa Clara
Road to California, California
Tokyo International Quilt Show, Tokyo
International Quilt Show, Dubai
Festival of Quilts, UK
Carrefour Européen du Patchwork, France
Australasian Quilt Convention, Australia
and many more.
The costs involved in sending the quilt include - Insurance, packaging and shipping. To send the quilt worldwide for two years, I am estimating a cost of another INR 150000 anually, which comes to a total of INR 300000. Out of this, I will be financing for INR 100000 out of my own funds.
So currently I am looking for a funding of INR 350000 in all to cover the costs of making the quilt, as well as to send it out to be displayed across the world.
