My first art event EVER 🎨🌜🌕🌎🏔️💖✨

I have been drawing my dreams since I could hold a pencil, forever fascinated with the art world, with color, with retro animation, with stars, & moons, & rainbows for as long as I can remember

There’s also few things on this beautiful Earth that take my breathe away the way looking at mountains or learning about our Earths ancient history does

After deciding to take, what I thought, was the “smarter” path, & graduating with my M.S. in Geosciences, & obnoxious school loans with applications steadily unreplied 🤪 I DECIDED TO CHASE MY FIRST PASSION… my first dream

I believe in the amazing, cosmic forces of the universe & our God above — & I’m trusting the process! 😮‍💨✨

At 33, I truly put myself out there & was blown away by what came back! 😭✨🙏

incredible, endless thanks to the amazing Tenth Level Tavern 👾🍺 for allowing me to showcase my art at my favorite video game bar!

endless, undefinable thanks to my husband, friends & family for your insane support! ✨

Spent x3957394 hours making this cute little portfolio of my Earth & Environmental Science Writing, Instructional Design Materials & Illustrations 🙈✨
still needs some tweaking but i’m seeing stars!

where were the college classes that informed us we needed an entire portfolio, with all correct links, and a resume that’s updated & specifically tailored to pass through ATS AI Tracking Systems for each job you apply to? are we for real here?

“I’d rather hear the mountains call my name” 🏔️🌲🌎

The Blue Ridge Mountains & the greater Appalachia, are some of the oldest mountains on Earth, once connected to the Caledonian Mountains in Scotland during Pangaea, and are said to be still home to some of the oldest (& coolest) creatures & biodiversity on Earth! (part of why they’re my favorite ✨)

To be rock hunting with the love of my life throughout Appalachia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the place where I first fell in love with this great big, indescribable floating rock called Earth, graduating with my Master’s in that very same, complex, mysterious, fascinating, earthy-cosmic beaut that I fell in love with so many years ago, is one of the biggest accomplishments and dreams of my life,
and I will never have words to fully express my astounding gratitude & awe 🏔️

📍Brasstown Bald Peak - tallest peak in Georgia, called ‘New Green Place’ by the native americans

📍Amicalola Falls - the tallest waterfall in the East Untied States

📍Providence Canyon - the “Little Grand Canyon” of the East, exposing billion year old layers of Earth from years of erosion caused by improper agricultural & farming strategies
- exposes beautiful layers of rusty red soil, evidence of the Great Oxidation Event caused by little adaptive, scrappy cyanobacteria, who helped give us breathable oxygen and complex life!
- fantastic geological window into the past even though it was caused by careless farming

📍Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park - a giant sinkhole in Northeast Florida, caused by millions of years of eroding coral reef limestone bedrock, beautifully carved by a Floridian waterfall!
- exposes layers of ancient Earth and fossils when Florida was covered by an ancient sea!

from microbes to mountains 🦠🏔️

after one of the hardest semesters that i’m grateful to have ever had 😮‍💨🙏
yesterday was a big day & reminded me of so many other amazing moments that i’ve had the honor of experiencing over my academic career 📚🏔️🌎✨🙏

🌎 retrieving my geomorphology poster that’s been on the walls of my university since 2021 🙈✨🙏 from when I had the fantastic opportunity of presenting my research on the Geomorphology of Dunes in the Colombia River, WA/OR in my undergrad! at the American Geophysical sciences Union (AGU 2021) in New Orleans!

🌎 researching & analyzing cores of the ancient paleoenvironment & climate of the Inca and discovering how they adapted to climate change with their iconic agricultural terraces!

🌎 growing a mini-ecosystem in a jar, finding cyanobacteria and ciliates! & getting to present on Cyanobacteria and how they oxygenated the Earth during the Archean/Proterozoic!

🌎 being a Research Assistant & Teacher Assistant for two of my favorite classes ever - History of Earth & Life and Geology Field Camp where I got to travel the Blue Ridge & Appalachia 😭 twice!

🌎 cosmically, running into two of my favorite professors, women of STEM, mothers with doctorates! women I look up to, and having them cheer me on & support me in ways I didn’t know I could be blessed with 🥹✨

🌎 finding fossils, gemstones, sasquatch!
exploring mountains, caves, rivers, waterfalls
sleeping under the stars and on the Earth, the very thing you’re studying & adore ✨
ancient continental crust, trilobite crawling tracks, lichen covered mountain tops, garnets harvested right out from underneath waterfalls!

🌎 oh! & walking under this cool guy almost everyday to remind me how cool our Earth is and why I’m doing it ✨🦕🏔️

I will never have enough words to express how much I adore our Earth & how grateful I am I get to study her! 🥹🙈🌎✨🙏
