INTACH is dedicated to conserving India’s heritage. Our mission is eloquently expressed in the INTACH logo that is derived from the 3000-year-old anthropomorphic copper figure of Shahabad, Uttar Pradesh. It symbolizes a human figure with arms turned inwards, suggesting that we hold the future of earth in our hands. We need to contemplate the direction we should take: Conservation of Inheritance or
consumption. It is the human genius that has created our diverse composite arts and cultural heritage over the centuries. Therefore, we believe that heritage enhances the quality of life and we must preserve it for future generation to enjoy.
