Have you tried Vanniyambadi Biryani?

I went on a recent trip. To try biryani's, I thought ambur was the hub, but was told by locals that vaniyambadi was the new biryani capital.
Tried the szandae khozhi biryani at Vanniyambadi and the kushka mutton fry at ambur.

Both trains (to and fro) were late by an hour minimum, but the seats are much more spacious than i remember, stations were a lot cleaner.

Still found people not understanding the concept of a reservation, which is kinda weird. Others had to do a little back and forth to get their booked seats.

Got 2 recommendations so will have to make another trip to try those 2 biryani's, hopefully those are better.

Side note the buses in TN are so much cheaper than Karnataka. - I wanted to stick to public transport for this trip so that travelling isn't
Draining the bank account.

The music is the closest I could find of a train running on tracks....

Will post my biryani recommendations after I've tried them.

The seats are waay more spacious than i remembered, indigo would've squeezed in atleast 4 more rows per compartment.
Crazy delays though, was late by an hour or two both ways.
Some dude was working on the train, charger plugged in, attending meetings? No clue how clear that audio was.
It was a fun experience, I should take it more often, crazy cheap too, good for short distances.

when was the last time you went on a train

Their Coorg speciality restaurant is a let down.
Just mountains and hills in the backdrop.

Views are good, pools are instagram worthy, however I'm an old guy so it didn't occur to me till i reached Bangalore that i should've taken a photo of the indoor pool.

Took this photo while leaving to my room in the evening...

Found this old pic of the best looking roofs I've ever seen in a church.

Sitting in the last row, the yellowish-Orange hue lights, the wooden roof and the ligneous pews, transport me to a warm cozy safe space.

Definitely worth a visit, it's 171 years old and is 4 years younger than the school it shares it's premises with, one of the rare churches in Bangalore that has a pipe organ.

Felt at peace sitting here, nothing but the night calls of the birds and the water from the fountains.

The stay was pleasant and the food, good.

The workers apparently do two half shifts which means they work roughly 14 hrs as per the conversation we had with a few of them, cause we saw them at breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.

Kinda similar to Coorg in the sense that the property's too big for you to walk everywhere, you have to call for a buggy, got lost a few times at night in the buggy, guess even the drivers get confused at night.

The place looks absolutely beautiful during the day, but transforms into the perfect location for a horror film shoot, you always feel like someone's watching...

I sat out here for quite sometime, came back at 12am and there was nothing but pitch black, I'd post a picture.of.it but all you'd see is the void caused by the absence of light, a feeling of being alone and at one with everything at the same time a weird juxtaposition.
I wouldn't recommend you try their speciality restaurant, a big let down, if you want coorgi food (especially pork) best to head out to some of the local restaurants or homestays.

One of the best muesli at breakfast though.

Definitely going to go back here.

Staff are courteous and very hospitable, although there always has to be that one staff that's gotto ruin it for everybody.

Apparently it's frequented by people from the film industry quite a bit.
Didn't bump into anyone famous though... Just a very energetic cackle of women on one of their girl bonding trips.

This is one of the best hotel lobby views I've ever seen, the hostess was an absolute delite and she took about 15 mins to go through their amenities and activities available...
Was treated to hot Bella Kappi - Black Coffee made with Jaggery.
Sat there sipping and just taking in the view.

In the core of Coorg, where Western Ghats cradle the sky,
Rests Madikeri, whose charm we cannot deny.
Sung by poets in nostalgic ragas,
Of misty hills soaked in yearning stanzas,
Where every syllable is a nostalgic saga.
Just as the monsoon arrives in the plains,
Madikeri, you wear the bridal veil of rains.
Clouds caress your coffee blossoms,
coaxing them into white celestial blooms.
Mist twirls with the mountains, and rivers swell in volumes.

In this watery symphony, your beauty eternally booms.
Madikeri, you perch on verdant hills,
like sentinels defending rugged sills.
Your winding roads like ballads,
Keep unearthing hidden waterfalls.
The moist air- fragrant coffee and eucalyptus,
hold out the sacred contract of paradise.
When the sun rises, spilling gold over rooftops,
ignites Madikeri, of charming landscapes.
This mist-kissed charm remains a poet’s muse,
Sparking the mindscape, waiting for poetries to bloom.
At the head of winding gravel, a colonial bungalow stands,
Its veranda, a sanctuary for weary souls.

The common English name shrike due to the alluding to the shrike's shriek-like call.
Probably wondering why its on a thorny branch? Shrikes are also known as butcherbirds because of the habit, particularly of males, of impaling prey onto plant spines within their territories. Crazy hot day that haxze your seeing that’s blurring out the background, that’s pure heatwave.
Couldn’t capture one of the birds with its “prey”. Seems like a cruel thing to do but I guess for a bird this frail, its pretty smart using the thorns as tools, an extension of its body to prevent its prey from getting away; ensuring the prey doesn’t hurt it just on the off chance that its still alive and trying to escape; a place to store stuff like an open fridge; looks badass; a pile of impaled bodies helps with mating as well apparently FYI to all the dexter fans out there…
This behaviour may also serve secondarily as an adaptation to eating the toxic lubber grasshopper. The bird waits 1–2 days for the toxins within the grasshopper to degrade before eating it.
They inhabit open habitats, especially steppe and savannah. A few species of shrikes are forest dwellers, seldom occurring in open habitats. Some species breed in northern latitudes during the summer, then migrate to warmer climes for the winter. Their beaks are hooked, like those of a bird of prey, reflecting their carnivorous nature; their calls are strident.
During courtship, the male performs a ritualised dance which includes actions that mimic the skewering of prey on thorns, and feeds the female. Shrikes make simple, cup-shaped nests from twigs and grasses, in bushes and the lower branches of trees.
