Designing for souvenirs were never a part of any of my plans. But somewhere between drawing things I love and turning them into little merchandise, it started to make sense.
There's something about making art inspired by real places and everyday life that feels right to me. It doesn't always have to be a big idea or a grand story. Sometimes it's just a tiny thing that brings back an entire trip in a flash of memory.
And I think that's a pretty lovely thing to design for.

Not my usual post. No new product. No illustration. No lettering. Just a few books that have had a surprisingly big role in getting me from an engineering/IT career to whatever this creative path is becoming. When you're leaving something relatively stable to pursue something creative, there are sooo many things you don't know you're supposed to prepare yourself for. (especially when you don't have anyone to turn to who's already been through it)
I've highlighted, underlined and returned to these books at different stages of this journey, and I thought I'd share some of the MANY parts that stayed with me.

I kept thinking if I should be sharing this with the small audience I have here and if anyone will even be interested in these little bits of the story behind the work.
But maybe it doesn't have to reach thousands of people. Maybe it just needs to reach ONE person making a similar leap.
