Today, I'm re-sharing an orchestration of a Medley of Three quite famous Bengali Art Songs written and composed by the noted Indian Filmmaker and Artist Satyajit Ray. This Medley had been a part of a Concert named "The Royal Bengal Symphony" - Presented by Muktochhanda on April 10, 2022 at Rathindra Mancha, adjacent to Jorasanko Thakurbari, Kolkata.

I have orchestrally arranged the songs with the Voices divided in a Two-part Choral Setting (i.e. Male and Female).

About "Symphonic Arrangement":

When Orchestral Instruments alongwith Choral Music are coupled with Ambient Sounds wherever appropriate, it becomes more artistic. I prefer to call it "Symphonic Arrangement", which is associated "Visual Soundscape", which means painting the feelings (which is conveyed by the words and the tunes) through sounds. This is a creative research that I've worked on (still working on and developing it furthermore, though) for years as an Artist.

It's really an amazingly beautiful experience working with young children singers.

Sharing 'Koh-i-noor', a Commissioned Orchestral Composition, once again.

For those, who are less aware about the concepts of "Commission" or "Commissioned Music":

A Commissioned Musical Composition is a piece or a musical creation which is often associated with the Elitist Academic Musical World, especially if it is associated with educational purpose or any sort of pedagogy (the levels in depth of the creation as a measure of purposefulness really does matter in terms of both technical and aesthetic aspects). Experienced composers, who are highly specialised in their respective field, are usually selected for commission on the basis of their levels and diversities in terms of strength and innovation. Usually, a commissioned work requires a lot of time, dedication and both academic as well as creative research on different aspects of the specified musical topic, all of which collectively aim to create a musical masterpiece. Apart from Musical Grants and Fellowships, Commission is the highest monetary award for research and production of a musical composition. The goal of awarding the commission to an Artist is usually to make a musical work recognised by musicians and performers by subsequent addition in the relevant global musical repertoire (after performance or world-premiere) and eventually among the global audience, subjecting to natural growth in terms of popularity and acceptance.

Programme Note (i.e. About the Piece): The 'Koh-i-noor', meaning 'The Mountain of Light' in Persian Language, is a precious jewel originally found in India in the Mughal Era, which was eventually owned by the British rulers and became one of the most important stones in the Royal Crown of England. The jewel, which is one of the largest cut diamonds in the world, is famous for the intensity of the light it reflects. It is often argued / rumoured by the people and the historians that some of the concurrent unnecessarily conservative or egoistic people of the same era became temporarily blind and subsequently they got distracted by the intensity of the lights emitted by the ‘Koh-i-noor’ (can cut this sentence short or paraphrase / eliminate as to whatever you deem appropriate). This piece, written for strings and harp, aims to represent the grandeur of the lights - which the stone emits.

While I do aim to publish the music quite soon, enjoy the Great Orchestral Performance for now, if you haven't already!
