Exploring the Untold Contribution of Nautch Girls to Kathak

At SVFAC Convocation 2026, we were honoured to present an insightful academic session by Dr. Keya Chanda, Advisor, SVFAC India, on:

“Contribution of Nautch Girls in the Resurrection and Preservation of Kathak Community and Their Present Role (Status) in Dance Culture.”

The session explored the historical contribution of Nautch Girls to the revival, preservation, and continuity of Kathak, while reflecting on their changing role and status within contemporary Indian dance culture. Special Thanks to Shri. Arup Mukherjee (National General Secretary, International Human Rights and Crime Control Organisation, West Bengal.)

This meaningful presentation highlights the importance of understanding the diverse histories and communities that have contributed to India's rich classical dance traditions. 🇮🇳✨

Dear Team,

We didn't just organize an event, we created history.

From reporting sharp at 8:45 AM to the last moment till the hall was empty, your discipline, dedication and smiling hospitality made Convocation 2026 a grand success.

Your Panjabi-Pajama and graceful Sari was not just a dress code, it was a symbol of our unity and culture. You proved that SVFAC is not an organization, it's a family.

Words are not enough to thank you. You are the true backbone of the Swami Vivekananda Foundation of Art & Culture.

With deep respect and love,

Thank You Team. We are proud of you.
