Debanjan Bhattacharjee is an upcoming Sarod artiste of the Maihar Senia Gharana, from Kolkata. A recipient of the President's Gold Medal Award in 2008, Debanjan has already performed in more than 14 Countries and nationally in over 45 Indian Cities. He has received global recognition for his new initiative "Dhrupad Sarod", an exclusive and unique form of performing the Dhrupad style of playing on
Sarod.
• He is the disciple of Ustad Aashish Khan, Late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan & Late Vidushi Ameena Perera of Maihar Senia Gharana. He has also participated in various workshops conducted by the legendary Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khansahab.
• Debanjan has won the coveted President’s Gold Medal Award in 2008.
• At this young age, Debanjan has International performances in over 14 Countries & has also performed solo nationally in over 45 Indian Cities.
• He is a nominated artiste for the prestigious Global Indian Music Academy Awards – GIMA 2012 for the Best Classical Album alongside great legends like Pt. Shujaat Khan, Pt. Ronu Majumdar.
• He is also an empanelled artiste with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India.
• Debanjan has also performed abroad in USA, Germany, Mexico, Canada, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Singapore, Bangladesh.
• Nationally, Debanjan has performed all over India in prestigious music festivals like Prayag Sammelan, Taj Mahotsav, Sawai Gandharva Samaroh, Dhrupad Mela, Rajya Sangeet Sammelan, Paschim Bangal Mahotsav, Gurupurnima Festival etc
• Debanjan is a graded artiste of All India Radio & Doordarshan.
• In the academic front, Debanjan is a post-graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpore, West Bengal.
