There’s something about espionage that has always fascinated me—the shadows, the coded glances, the conversations that mean more than they seem. Piano Journal 42 is my dive into that world. A dramatic score built around tension and release.

I do understand that times have changed. The idea of romance has also evolved. We have, in our time, grown accustomed to a romance of immediacy: instant replies, sudden infatuations, the thrill of the new. But there was once a kind of romance that asked more of us.
The grand but unhurried kind.
It unfolded slowly, as if to remind us that affection is not a race but a discipline and that it takes time to understand people.

Here's to everyone looking for Romance in this mad world. I hope it finds you.

A pivotal conversation between Labanya and Amit.

My wife has always considered the piano complicated — something to admire from a distance, not approach. But I’ve always known she had an ear for it. Music lives in her, even if she’s rarely called it out by name.

Last evening, while she was lost in her work, I gently asked her to help me with something — made it seem like I needed her input for a piece I was working on. She agreed without thinking much of it, and sat at the piano almost absentmindedly.

But then something unexpected happened.
She stayed.
For forty uninterrupted minutes, she played — instinctively, freely, as if some long-forgotten part of her had found its way back. I just sat there, watching her fall into the music like a dream she didn’t know she remembered.

This tune isn’t mine.
It’s hers.
I only had the honour of performing it.

For all the quiet that you carry
Burdens your soul.
In the hush of the morning
Let a few notes flow.

Hesitant but they hold the truth.
Like whispers of a little child.
Treat them not with certainty
But with grace.

Sit with them and hold them right.
Dissolving moments,
One note at a time.
