As lockdown is currently underway across the world, here is our new programme, "Quarantine Day's" where artists are performing in their own homes. And dear friends, we are presenting these videos to you.

Bhawaiya (Bengali: ভাওয়াইয়া, Assamese: ভাৱাইয়া ) is a musical form or a popular folk music in Northern Bangladesh, especially Rangpur District and in Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, part of Darjeeling and North Dinajpur district of West Bengal and Dhubri and Goalpara of Assam in India. These area were covered by Kamtapur state and so for the song also Kamtapuri language is used. This folk song is sung traditionally both solo and by chorus.

As lockdown is currently underway across the world, here is our new programme, "Quarantine Day's" where artists are performing in their own homes. And dear friends, we are presenting these videos to you.

Sarinda is a stringed Indian folk musical instrument similar to lutes or fiddles. It is played with a bow and has between ten and thirty strings. The bottom part of the front of its hollow wooden soundbox is covered with animal skin. It is played while sitting on the ground in a vertical orientation.

Ektara is a one-stringed musical instrument used in the traditional music of the Indian subcontinent, and used in modern-day music of Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. In origin the ektara was a regular string instrument of wandering bards and minstrels from India and is plucked with one finger.

Hi folks,
Whether it is the song of the tea garden in North Bengal or the desert in rajasthan or the song of a native African tribe, or of the working class people of America - there is a similarly between all these folk songs of different countries. Each of these music potrays the socio-economic, political situation and everyday life of the people there. Though the history of folk music was a few hundred years old, the traditional folk music was largely included in culture in near about eighteenth century. Our aim is to bring folk music of different countries, musicals and discussions on these subjects to the people and to enrich them with folk culture.

উত্তরবঙ্গের চা বাগানের বা রাজস্থানের মরুভূমির, অথবা আফ্রিকার কোন প্রত্যন্ত জনজাতির,আমেরিকার মেহনতি মানুষের গান এই সকল দেশের লোকসংগীতের মধ্যেই একটি মিল রয়েছে,এই প্রত্যেকটি সংগীতই সেখানকার আর্থসামাজিক,রাজনৈতিক পরিস্থিতি,মানুষের দৈনন্দিন জীবনের চিত্র ফুটিয়ে তোলে।লোকসংগীতের ইতিহাস কয়েকশো বছরের হলেও মূলত অষ্টাদশ শতাব্দীতেই Traditional Folk Music শিল্প সংস্কৃতির অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়।

বর্তমানে গোটা বিশ্ব জুড়ে লকডাউন চলায়,আমাদের বর্তমান প্রোগ্রাম 'Quarantine Day's' যেখানে শিল্পীরা নিজের ঘরে বসেই পারফর্ম করছেন,সেই ভিডিওই আমরা আপনাদের সামনে উপস্থাপন করছি।
