গতকাল দেখে এলাম "আত্মদাহ"

Mahabharat has always been a fascinating story. The original story with more grays than black and white characters. This play by Daramatist Tarit Mitra and brilliantly directed by Indranil Mandal and acted by his team Ebong Nandik, is set after the Great war. The blind king Dhritarashtra, his blindfolded wife Gandhari, mother of the Pandavas Kunti and Vidur are spending their last days in the forest with a low caste Nishad Kilok to care for them. In this setting each of the characters gets a centre stage wherein they get to gloat upon their past deeds and end up opening up to the audience the deep pain and wounds the great war and the losses have caused. Each is a victim, hero/heroine or even the villain in their own story!
In this era of fast entertainment when hardly a tear is shed as we watch a series on our mobile phones, the actors on stage especially those playing Gandhari, Kunti and Kilok could move me to tears. Vidur played by the director himself has always been a deep character. At the end of the play we hated him as much as we tried to understand his motives behind supporting the Pandavas to the throne. Such was the feeling evoked by the players that our attention never wavered from the intense dialogue.
The pain of women in the society and of those belonging to lower castes was brought out like a stark reminder - nothing has changed, the politics, the ruthlessness of those in power, the helplessness of the masses... nothing.
Special mention for the light, props on stage and background music. It held us in a trance for 1 hour 15 minutes.

দলের একজন নিষ্ঠাবান সদস্য হিসেবে গর্বিত যে অন্তত শো এর দিন আমি দলের সদস্যদের সঙ্গে উপস্থিত থাকতে পারছি।
আজকের শো তে ও আমার পরিচিত ৬ জন এসেছিলেন শো দেখতে, উনাদের দেখাতে চেয়েছিলাম যে আমি কি ধরণের কাজের সঙ্গে অল্প হলেও যুক্ত আছি, শোয়ের পরেই তারা যা মতামত দিলেন তা কোট আনকোট বিবৃতি দিচ্ছি......

*"সামগ্রিক পরিবেশনা মনোমুগ্ধকর এবং নাটকের বিষয় অসাধারণ, নাটকের ক্ল্যাইম্যাক্স পর্যন্ত যে টানটান উত্তেজনা অনুভব করেছি, তা প্রশংসনীয়। দর্শকাসনে বসে এটুকু অনুভব করেছি যে সামগ্রিক পরিবেশনায় গান্ধারী ও কুন্তীর কথোপকথনের বিষয়ে নির্দেশকের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করছি। সমগ্র পরিবেশনা যথাযথ, অনেকদিন পর এরকম একটা বিষয় নিয়ে নাটক দেখলাম, খুব সুন্দর প্রযোজনা। ভ্রাতৃপ্রতিম পার্থ কে ধন্যবাদ এরকম বিষয় নিয়ে এরকম একটি উপস্থাপনা দেখার সুযোগ করে দেওয়ার জন্য।"*

আজকের শো বেশ বেশ ভালো হয়েছে, আমাদের "এবং নান্দীক" এর আরও অনেক ভালো কিছু করার ক্ষমতা ও দক্ষতা দুইই রয়েছে। জয়স্তু।

" উত্তরযুদ্ধের ঐ ভয়াবহ পরিনতি পুনরায় প্রত্যক্ষ করার ক্ষমতা আমাদের নেই। তাকে ডেকে আনার আদেশ আপনারা দিতে পারেন না। অন্ধত্বের আশীর্বাদে আপনারা উভয়েই ধন্য। মৃত্যুর এই কদর্য রূপ আপনাদের দেখতে হবে না। অথচ যাঁরা চক্ষুস্মান তাঁরা এবার দেখবে এমনকি সর্বশরীর দিয়ে প্রত্যক্ষ করবে মৃত্যুর এই ভয়ঙ্কর রূপ...."
