What is the cost of a lie?
A broken heart, strained relationships, pocket money being halved or maybe a million lives at stake due to one of the biggest blunders of Human history.
Who knows, what is the cost of a lie!
Chernobyl (miniseries), HBO is based on true events that transpired in Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union.
What's Good?
The cinematography, narration and some of the dialogues between characters that would leave a deep mark in the listener's heart. The background scores enhances the plot.
Jared Haris (as Valery Legasov) steals the show with his character portrayal of a man on mission to unearth the truth, only to realise that nobody wants to hear it.
A 5 episode, miniseries that keeps you hooked on the edge of your seat especially when the characters in power are rather cool about the situation, not even realising the magnitude of the problem in the first place.
You will feel angered, disturbed and helpless at times but it is worth it (truth)
What's bad?
As said, it is a miniseries so it feels a bit short lived. Everything else is hard hitting. Perfect.
Our Verdict?
A series of mistakes, bad decisions, ignorance and shady government policies blends together to give you the biggest man-made Catastrophe. The writing and character conflicts will not give you a moment of boredom.
With a IMDB rating of 9.4/10 you cannot go wrong on Chernobyl.
Xero Ratings: 4.9 Uranium Atoms with a lone eletron pair on top (for the dialogues) /5.
