The 27th September issue of the renowned Bengali film-magazine Anandalok, from the ABP stable, carries a 40 page story on Mahishasuramardini which throws light on various aspects of this legendary radio-programme, currently in its 90th year. A veritable treasure trove of information and rare images, this issue is truly a collector’s item. The Anandalok issue comprises, among others, a six page article written by me titled - Amar Dadu, Pankaj Mullick. In this article, I write about Pankaj Mullick, the man, more than Pankaj Mullick, the artiste. Through the article, I reflect on his exemplary qualities, his consummate discipline, his exceptional hard-work and above all his impeccable humility. This post features the cover of the magazine and snapshots of my article (pages 28 to 33).
Corrigendum: The bottom right-hand-side photograph on page 30 is of my maternal grandfather Pankaj Mullick and the actress Chandrabati Debi and not of my maternal grandmother as has been incorrectly mentioned in the caption. My grandmother, Annapurna Mullick’s photographs can be seen on page 32
