The best part of a workshop isn’t always what you take home.
Sometimes, it’s the things you discover along the way. A new technique. A different way of looking at an idea. A conversation across the table or that strangely satisfying moment when you pull your first print and realise, I made this!

A bee that lets you hold it is rare enough to stop for.
These ones do. No sting, no fear, just five millimetres of quiet, patient work, the same work that’s kept forests standing long before we thought to protect them.
We’ve spent ten years building this ground. This week, we welcomed its smallest keepers home, with PAQ, Project Adopt a Queen Bee and The Rotary Club of Mumbai Elegant by our side.
If you’ve never seen a hive from this close, or tasted what it makes, the 23rd is your chance. Come hold still for a bee.

Ten years of building this land, an Ayurvedic forest, a butterfly garden, a Navgraha Vatika, and now, its smallest keepers are moving in. The Indian indigenous stingless bee. Quietly essential, gently arriving. 🐝
On the 23rd, we’re welcoming them home in collaboration with The Rotary Club of Mumbai Elegant, whose support has helped make this initiative possible. Together with our partners at PAQ, Project Adopt a Queen Bee, Ahmedabad, we’ll begin with a small inauguration ceremony, a walk through their new wooden homes, and an introduction to the secret life of bees. We’ll then gather around for a honey tasting and lunch at the AVK Café.
If this is something you’d like to witness, bring your friends, children and family along. Come spend a morning learning, tasting and celebrating a little more of nature at Art Village.

There’s a sound that happens right before wood becomes something. The quiet after, when a hand plane moves once, twice, and shavings curl off the edge like they’ve been waiting to let go. We’re building five days around that sound.
A woodworking workshop under the mentorship of V For Wood, who has spent years teaching people to listen to a material before they shape it.
Eight benches. Eight people who’ll leave knowing how to make something with their own hands, and what it feels like to slow down enough to notice they’re doing it.

Some people find their craft early.
For Viren, it was a chisel at 12. Life pulled him elsewhere for a while, a desk, a screen, years of it. But wood has a way of calling you back.
He came back to it slowly. Taught it on weekends first. Then fully, without looking back.
Now he’s inviting you to do the same.
Not to master it in five days. Just to slow down enough to listen to a material, let it guide your hands, and see what happens when you stop rushing toward the finish.
This August, he brings that practice to Art Village Karjat. And there’s room for a few more hands at the bench.

There’s a kind of memory that lives in your hands, not your head. Long after a stay ends, you’ll still know exactly how that piece of wood felt before it became something.
That’s what these five days are really about. Not just learning a craft, but the version of you that shows up when there’s nowhere to rush to. The kind of presence that’s hard to find anywhere else, and easy to find here.
You’ll leave with something you made from scratch, and a few days spent slower than usual, both worth carrying home.

This July, spend five days at Art Village with artist Pooja Shinde, exploring the complete process of printmaking while living amongst nature, sharing meals with fellow artists, exchanging ideas, and finding inspiration in the quiet moments between them.
Because sometimes the best part of a workshop isn’t what happens inside the studio.

The way a line changes once it’s carved.
The way ink behaves differently in the rain.
The way a sketch on paper 26th July, becomes a print by the 30th!
This July, printmaker Pooja Shinde joins Art Village Karjat for a monsoon printmaking workshop, linoleum and woodcut, carving through to layered colour, alongside slow meals, the pool, and evenings that don’t rush anywhere.
A small batch of seats, for anyone who’s been meaning to start something with their hands.
