Alampur Site Museum - Renowned Heritage Museum
Explore the glorious heritage of Alampur in the form of Site Museum established here in the year 1952, in the premises of famous Nava Brahma temples. There are more than 124 stone sculptures and 26 inscriptional slabs on display at this heritage premises, widely known for its large collection of sculptures, dating back from 6th to 16th Century AD. The exhibits belong to Kakatiyas, Chalukyas, and
Vijayanagara dynasties.

Nandi bull (The Vahana of Lord Shiva) represents Bhakti or Total Devotion.

Once Lord Shiva was meditating with Parvati and Nandi Bull decided that he will also join them in meditation. He sat in front of Lord Shiva that’s exactly why Idol of Nandi is always in front of Lord Shiva. While they were meditating Jalandhar who was an enemy of Lord Shiva abducted Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva was not aware of this and he continued meditating.

Now the Gods were scared and did not know how to communicate about this incident to Lord Shiva. They approached Lord Ganesha to pass this information. Ganesha tried to make Lord Shiva come out of the meditation but he couldn't and then a very good idea struck Ganesha. He saw Nandi bull and he whispered all that he wanted to in the ears of the Nandi bull. The Nandi bull communicated all that he heard to Lord Shiva. This is how Lord Shiva came out of his deep meditation.​

From that time this custom has come up that when we whisper something into the ears of the Nandi Bull it gets communicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva listens to all these and he accordingly fulfills all the wishes. It is also said that the puja of Lord Shiva is incomplete if the Nandi bull is not worshiped along with him.
