Aesthetics Art & Culture

We are Aesthetics, people from diverse backgrounds, differing skill sets, and varying perspectives, yearning to break free from the daily stress of our corporate work and contribute to the society we live in. Our team members are masters of their trade, ranging from sculpture artists to painters, to graphic designers, software engineers, and Instructional designers. But all of us got to work with

the same motivation- to underline the beauty of nature, the balance of coexistence, and awareness for our society, with the language of Art.

The painted boat was our attempt to fill some colors in the otherwise black and grey surroundings, with a hint of green in between. The use of pop colors will ensure that it catches your eye in the river of black and nondescript boats.

When we reached the site, we saw an old, rusty, damaged boat overturned and ignored for years. For us this was not just an old boat, it was a canvas on which we decided to play with our imagination. Our artists got to work and cleaned the boat. After some deliberations, we decided to transform the boat into a croc to maintain the connection with the environment and the elements of the location. By the time we were done transforming the boat, it had become one of the biggest crowd-pullers, especially for kids.

All the traditions and festivals around kites are known to bring happiness of getting new crops for farmers, signifying the end of winter, and the beginning of warmer and longer days. By making these concepts as a backbone of the installation of the kites with candle lights attached in the back and igniting those candles after the sunset.
It carried a small and powerful message that said even if there is no sun in the sky, a small source of light, no matter how insignificant, can question the existence of darkness. The underlying message being, finding happiness in the smallest of things in life and bringing in more positivity.

The Tree with Letters installation was our attempt to remind the common folk of the sacrifices that our ancestors made for the sake of our mother tongue, and how we were betraying them by running in hordes to convent schools for English education. The Tree installation also reminds people to connect with their roots and inspires the younger generations to appreciate their mother tongue and culture.

In Indian culture, dragonflies are symbolic of joy, life, and wisdom. How they are born in water, then they move to the land, and finally, they fly in the air. We installed two dragonflies on the riverbanks. They are one of the many collateral damages to the rampant urbanization of our cities. The installation was a reminder of the beauty that we have lost in the mindless race to grow concrete jungles.

The fishbone installation was our attempt to dazzle the viewers and invite them to question the difference between what they are shown and what they believe to be true. The use of mirrors and other similar surfaces in art provides the magic of reflection to create ever-evolving narratives around our perceptions of ourselves and our understanding of the world around us. The stillness in the river water will not only show a clearer picture to the viewer but also invoke the thought of pausing and thinking in our otherwise hectic lives.
