The launch
Ethnic mix started in the year 2014 with the first exhibition being held from 18 to 21 October 2014. This was a culmination point for our long yearning to bring authentic handicrafts and handmade cho
colate hampers to common people residing in our locality. Divya had been making these mouth watering chocolates which were being sold in market by established bakeries at very steep prices. We worked on creating really value for money hampers of these with assorted goodies and designer diyas and put up our stall in various exhibitions from 2011 to 2013. This exposure also made us perceive the innate desire of people to purchase really authentic, colourful and reasonably priced apparels and handicrafts. Move to jaipur provided us this opportunity, to bring to Lucknow stuff on similar lines. As a proof of concept we organised Ethnic mix 2014, the diwali shopping carnival, which saw awesome response and appreciation from consumers from varied walks of life. There were numerous suggestions by the guests to hold the event on half yearly periodicity, so we decided to organize two such events every year. Authentic – exotic
Our country is home to numerous styles of workmanship especially in apparel & jewellery categories. These products are really colourful and vibrant and irresistible for any person. These unique and extraordinary stuff though available in all the cities but the avenues are very few and the cost is exorbitant. We aimed at getting this stuff to a common man in a decent platform, the motive being “bring home the vivid and vibrant”. Reasonable prices
The goods/services that we eventually would be offering would be available in one form or the other. They would be available at shops , but the outlets would be few and the cost would be exorbitant. Here the overheads in running the shop are being borne by the consumer resulting in inflated prices. Alternatively they would be available in a more direct platform of selling ie lifestyle exhibitions. Many such lifestyle exhibitions are held on regular basis in our city with almost the same stalls. These exhibitions are held at premium venues resulting in inflated prices , which ultimately is borne by the end consumer. We aim at reducing the overheads and selling to the end consumer at very reasonable prices. Hence the format of Ethnic mix where we go for minimum frills yet a decent ambience for stall owners to showcase their goods and consumers to shop. Our aim is to build long standing relationships and the awareness for Ethnic Mix as a platform, for both sellers and consumers, that is profitable and value for money. “SELL CHEAP & TELL THE TRUTH”
PROMOTION OF PERFORMING ART FORMS : specially children
We didn’t intend Ethnic Mix just to be a three day sale of goods. Though economic activity enthrals human beings to no end yet we wanted some creativity and enthusiasm to mark the event. Towards this end Ethnic mix 2014 had a complete performance by teachers and students of LYRICS Academy Aligunj and their felicitation by Mrs Bimal Pant a renowned & senior Doordarshan Lucknow classical singer. The event was very well received by the audience and also boosted the consumer base for our stalls. We intend holding many more, varied, and interesting events for further exhibitions. Ethnic Mix will always be an event & not just a sale. Ethnic Mix would provide a platform for showcasing creativity in all forms & providing value for money and profitable economic activity.
