Army-Led Anti-Drug Campaign Brings Positive Change in Karnah.

Karnah, Kupwara: In a strong and commendable effort to combat drug abuse, the tehsil of Karnah in Kupwara—often affected by drug-related concerns—is witnessing a positive transformation through continuous initiatives by the Indian Army. Building on its consistent outreach under formations like the 104 Shakti Vijay Brigade, an impactful 10-day anti-drug awareness campaign was recently conducted by 7 RR (Punjab) Battalion in the Tangdar–Karnah sector.

The campaign, titled “Aapki Kahani, Aapki Zubani – Speak Up Against Drugs,” concluded with a felicitation ceremony led by Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, GOC 15 Corps. The initiative received widespread appreciation for its innovative approach and meaningful impact, especially among the youth. Students from various schools actively participated by creating and sharing awareness videos on social media, delivering powerful messages against drug abuse.

The role of 7 RR (Punjab) Battalion was widely praised for successfully engaging the younger generation and guiding them towards positive expression. Through their creative content, children not only highlighted the dangers of drug addiction but also promoted hope, responsibility, and social awareness. The campaign clearly demonstrated how youth can become a strong force in bringing change to society.

The initiative also received overwhelming support from civil society members, teachers’ associations, and local residents. Many locals expressed that such programmes are highly beneficial, stating that these awareness drives educate people, especially the younger generation, about the serious consequences of drug abuse and help build a more informed and responsible community.

With 76 video entries and active participation from multiple schools, the campaign reflected a united stand against drug abuse in Karnah. The efforts of the Indian Army, combined with the enthusiasm of students and support from the community, are creating a visible positive impact in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Srivastava appreciated the dedication of the students and emphasized the importance of youth involvement in eliminating social evils. He encouraged them to continue spreading awareness and act as ambassadors of change, while also acknowledging the important role played by parents, teachers, and society in shaping a better and drug-free future.

کامراج ڈویژن زنگلی میں شجرکاری مہم، طلبہ اور عوام کی بھرپور شرکت.

کپواڑہ: بٹ مظفر، محکمۂ جنگلات کامراج ڈویژن زنگلی کی جانب سے آج کمپارٹمنٹ 96NL لشٹیال کلاروس میں شجرکاری مہم کے تحت ایک خصوصی پروگرام کا انعقاد کیا گیا، جس دوران مختلف اقسام کے پودے لگائے گئے اور ماحول کے تحفظ کے عزم کو مزید مضبوط کیا گیا۔

اس پروگرام کی قیادت ڈی ایف او کامراج اویس احمد میر نے کی، جبکہ ان کے ہمراہ رینج آفیسر نارتھ لولاب ریاض احمد اور محکمۂ جنگلات کے دیگر اہلکار بھی موجود تھے۔
اس موقع پر مڈل اسکول لشٹیال کے طلبہ، اساتذہ اور مقامی شہریوں نے بھی بڑھ چڑھ کر حصہ لیا اور شجرکاری مہم کو کامیاب بنانے میں عملی تعاون فراہم کیا۔

طلبہ نے جوش و خروش کے ساتھ پودے لگائے، جبکہ اساتذہ نے انہیں درختوں کی اہمیت، ماحولیاتی تحفظ اور قدرتی وسائل کے ذمہ دارانہ استعمال کے حوالے سے آگاہ کیا۔
مقررین نے کہا کہ اس طرح کی سرگرمیاں نہ صرف تعلیمی اہمیت رکھتی ہیں بلکہ نئی نسل میں ماحول دوستی کے جذبے کو بھی فروغ دیتی ہیں۔

تقریب کے اختتام پر ڈی ایف او کامراج اویس احمد میر نے میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے جنگلات کے تحفظ کی اہمیت اور شجرکاری کے فوائد پر روشنی ڈالی۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ جنگلات ماحولیاتی توازن برقرار رکھنے، صاف ہوا فراہم کرنے اور موسمیاتی تبدیلی کے اثرات کو کم کرنے میں اہم کردار ادا کرتے ہیں۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ درخت انسانی زندگی، حیاتیاتی تنوع اور قدرتی خوبصورتی کے لیے ناگزیر ہیں۔

انہوں نے عوام سے اپیل کی کہ وہ زیادہ سے زیادہ درخت لگائیں، موجودہ جنگلات کی حفاظت کریں اور آنے والی نسلوں کے لیے ایک صحت مند اور سرسبز ماحول یقینی بنانے میں اپنا کردار ادا کریں۔

SSP Sopore Holds Monthly Crime Review Meeting; Focus on Crime Control, Public Service Delivery and Security

Sopore, April 07, 2026:
SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib–JKPS chaired a comprehensive Monthly Crime Review Meeting at the Conference Hall, Sopore, to assess the overall crime scenario, operational performance, and public service delivery across Police District Sopore.

The meeting was attended by all SDPOs, DySP Ops, SHOs, and DOs of the district. A detailed and threadbare discussion was held on crime detection and prevention, with special focus on cases under NDPS and UAPA, ensuring timely investigation, effective prosecution, and adherence to legal timelines.

The overall security scenario and law & order situation of the district were also reviewed, with emphasis on maintaining vigilance, strengthening intelligence flow and ensuring prompt response to emerging challenges.

During the meeting, the monthly performance of Police Stations and Police Posts was critically analysed and targets assigned earlier were reviewed. Fresh targets and clear directions were issued to further improve efficiency, accountability and operational outcomes.

All under-investigation cases were reviewed in detail, with officers directed to expedite investigations, maintain quality documentation and ensure proper coordination with prosecution agencies.

The meeting also focused on improving public service delivery, including verification services, grievance redressal and citizen-centric policing initiatives. Officers were instructed to ensure timely and transparent services to the public and to strengthen community engagement.

Sopore Police reiterated its commitment to professional policing, effective crime control and responsive public service, while maintaining peace, order and public confidence across the district.

Power Supply Improves Across Kashmir, Recovery Mechanism in Place: Div Com Kashmir
Srinagar,April 4, KNT: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Saturday said there is no shortage of essential commodities in the Valley, with stock supplies being regularly replenished.

Addressing reporters, the Divisional Commissioner said the government has maintained pre-crisis stock levels, ensuring that around 15 days of essential supplies remain available.

The statement comes amid concerns over availability of essential commodities, with authorities urging the public to rely only on official information.

“Stock supply is being replenished and there is no shortage. Pre-crisis 15-day stock is available,” he said.

He advised people not to spread or believe in unverified information, stressing that only government updates should be relied upon.

On power supply, the Divisional Commissioner said the situation has improved across Kashmir.
