7 things to know about the idol Mesmerizing idol of Shree Ram Lalla, in Ayodhya Ram Temple:

Everyone in every corner of the world is saying that the idol of Shri Ram has been installed in the Ayodhya temple. Is a unique example of artistry and devotion. After PM Modi on Monday performed the pran pratishtha of Lord Ram Lalla at the sanctum sanctorum of the Ayodhya Ram Temple, the first look of the 51-inch idol was revealed to the world. The idol has been sculpted by Karnataka's Arun Yogiraj Ji ( ) portraying Ram Lalla as a five-year-old. The idol was selected over two others since it captured innocence, divinity, and royalty at the finest, the Trust authorities said.

1. The idol is black as it has been carved out of black stone. This is in keeping with how Lord Ram has been described in the scriptures.

2. The idol is heavily jewelled to reflect the royal trait of Lord Ram.

3. The idol shows Lord Ram as a five-year-old because in Hindu scriptures this age is considered as the age of innocence.

4. The idol is 51-inch tall -- the approximate height of a five-year-old at that time.

5. Ram Lalla has a gold bow and arrow in his hands.

6. Though Ram Lalla idol's hands are folded, they are designed such that they reach the idol's knees as Lord Ram was ‘ajanubahu’.

7. In the scriptures, Lord Ram's eyes have been described as lotus eyes. Sculptor Ayun Yogiraj conformed to that description in designing the eyes of the Lord Ram Lalla idol.

Before Pran Pratishtha The idol has been decked with jewellery -- several jewellery pieces from head to feet. On its hands, there is a golden bow and arrow. The forehead is adorned with silver and red tilak.
Ram Lalla is clad in a yellow dhoti the colour of which blended with the yellow of flowers and the yellow of the dazzling jewellery. Intricate flower decoration stood out even amid the majestic jewellery with which the idol has been decked up.

An invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition, Yoga has emerged as one of the most trusted means to boost physical and mental well-being. The word "Yoga" is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj meaning "to join", "to yoke" or "to unite", symbolizing the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between human and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well-being.

Due to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi’s relentless efforts, June 21 was declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations General Assembly. In its resolution, the UNGA endorsed that "Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being apart from striking a balance between all aspects of life. The wider dissemination of information about the benefits of practising Yoga would be beneficial for the health of the world population." This infused an era of holistic health revolution in which attention was given more to prevention rather than the cure.

Centuries ago one of the most popular Sanskrit poets Bhartrhari, while highlighting the specialty of Yoga, said:

धैर्यं यस्य पिता क्षमा च जननी शान्तिश्चिरं गेहिनी
सत्यं सूनुरयं दया च भगिनी भ्राता मनः संयमः।
शय्या भूमितलं दिशोSपि वसनं ज्ञानामृतं भोजनं
एते यस्य कुटिम्बिनः वद सखे कस्माद् भयं योगिनः।।

Meaning that by regularly practising Yoga, a person can imbibe some very good qualities like courage which protects like a father, forgiveness as possessed by a mother & mental peace which becomes a permanent friend. Through regular practise of Yoga truth becomes our child, mercy our sister, self-control our brother, the earth becomes our bed & knowledge satiates our hunger.
