The arrival of Ganesha is an arrival of wisdom, auspicious beginnings, and the quiet strength to overcome every obstacle.

Across these works, the divine takes many forms…
From contemporary expressions and vibrant reinterpretations to traditional and devotional renderings, yet the essence remains unchanged: faith translated into art.

This Ganesh Chaturthi, Kalaneri Art Gallery celebrates the many ways an artist can see, interpret, and express the presence of Lord Ganesha.

May His grace bring wisdom to our thoughts, purpose to our journeys, and auspiciousness to every new beginning. 🕉️ 🧡

Five generations of artistic legacy in ONE exhibition.

‘The Universe – Legacy in Colors’ brings together an extraordinary artistic journey from a family of painters rooted in Nathdwara’s rich traditions.

From original Pichwai paintings made with natural pigments to contemporary mixed-media works inspired by the spiritual essence of sacred spaces, this exhibition presents a rare dialogue between heritage and contemporary expression.

Artist Aditi Gemini carries forward the essence of her grandfather, Shri BM Sharma’s devotion towards Shrinathji, reinterpreting inherited memories and temple experiences through her own visual language.

Abstracts, landscapes, realism, contemporary works, and traditional Pichwais, each painting here is not merely an artwork, but a chapter of a family’s artistic journey spanning five generations.

For collectors, curators, and patrons of art, this is an opportunity to engage with works that embody provenance, continuity, craftsmanship, and cultural memory.

Exhibition on view until the first week of July.

A grandfather’s brush. A granddaughter’s canvas.

The same devotion. The same sacred universe. Separated by generations — but never by intent.

Shri B.M. Sharma was born into Nathdwara’s most revered lineage of temple artists. His grandfather pioneered gold embossing in Pichwai paintings. His father was a celebrated Pichwai master. And through decades of practice rooted in mythology, ritual, and the grace of Shrinathji — he became one himself.

His granddaughter, Aditi Gemini, grew up watching that devotion take form. She absorbed it — not as instruction, but as inheritance. And when she found her own artistic voice, it spoke the same language, in a different time.

The Universe — Legacy in Colors is their story. Told in paint.

Abstract. Contemporary. Realistic. Landscape. Pichwai.

One family. One universe. Infinite expression.

An ending that marked multiple beginnings.

The closing evening of Traditions in Transition at Kalaneri Art Gallery brought together artists, patrons, and art lovers to witness the culmination of a six-day residency — and the opening of an exhibition featuring works created during this journey.

The participating artists were felicitated for their dedication and practice during the residency at Aayam Art Residency, as their ideas transitioned from process to presentation.

The evening also marked the quiet beginning of Kala Setu — a community, formed in March 2020, exclusively for connection, expression, and shared creativity, bringing together individuals who believe in the power of dialogue and collective growth.

What concluded as a residency now continues as a conversation.

When conversations around art begin to echo beyond the gallery walls, they become part of a larger cultural narrative.

Traditions in Transition at Kalaneri Art Gallery has found its place in the city’s leading publications — reflecting not just an event, but a growing dialogue around how traditional Indian visual languages are being reinterpreted within contemporary practice.

These features capture the essence of what unfolded over six days — an open studio residency where artists, audiences, and ideas came together to create, question, and connect. From hands-on workshops to immersive interactions, the residency resonated with a wide spectrum of the art community, drawing attention to the importance of process-driven artistic engagement.

For us, this recognition is not just about visibility — it is a reminder that meaningful artistic initiatives continue to shape cultural conversations, both within and beyond institutional spaces.

We invite you to explore the highlights and perspectives shared across these publications.

19th March (Day 6) marked the culmination of Traditions in Transition — a six-day multidisciplinary art residency that transformed Kalaneri into a living, breathing space of artistic exchange.

Over the course of the day, Kalaneri’s spaces welcomed a vibrant cross-section of Jaipur’s creative community — from students of design and fashion to seasoned art enthusiasts — all coming together to experience the residency through observation, interaction, and dialogue.

What unfolded was more than viewership; it was connection. Visitors engaged deeply with the artists, their processes, and the evolving narratives of their works. Conversations extended beyond the canvas, fostering meaningful exchanges that enriched both the audience and the artists alike.

As the residency progressed — particularly in its final days — the artworks began to take definitive form. With this transformation came a steady influx of curious and engaged visitors, each drawn by a desire to understand not just the finished pieces, but the journeys, intentions, and processes behind them.

While the closing ceremony formally marked the end of the residency, it also signaled the beginning of something more enduring — an emerging, esoteric community shaped by shared experiences, ideas, and creative dialogue.

Stay tuned. What follows is just the beginning.

Day 3 at Traditions in Transition — where the studio extends into the city, and art meets lived experience.

From the tactile rhythms of the Printmaking Workshop to the timeless architecture of Jaipur, the day unfolded as a journey through both process and place.

The morning began inside the studio at Kalaneri Art Gallery, where participants immersed themselves in printmaking, exploring techniques and engaging directly with the artistic process.

As the day progressed, the residency moved beyond the studio — into the cultural landscape of the Pink City. From the historic corridors of Albert Hall Museum to the panoramic sunset views at Nahargarh Fort, and the evocative light and sound experience at Amber Fort, the day became an exploration of Jaipur’s layered heritage.

The evening concluded with shared conversations over dinner — where artists, participants, and patrons came together, reflecting on art, culture, and the experiences that shape creative thought.

Day 3 was not just about making art — it was about living it, experiencing it, and carrying it forward.

Fresh from a well-received solo exhibition at the prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery earlier this year, artist Tania Fatnani brings her contemplative visual language to Jaipur.

Where geometry meets intuition and symbolism flows into abstraction, her paintings invite viewers into layered spaces of reflection and quiet energy.

Tania Fatnani — Architecture of Symbolic Abstraction

As part of “Traditions in Transition”, Aayām’s multidisciplinary art residency hosted at Kalaneri Art Gallery, Tania Fatnani presents a body of work that explores visual languages rooted in Indian aesthetics. Her paintings bring together geometry, symbolism, meditative colour fields, and contemporary abstraction, drawing subtle inspiration from nature and ta***ic visual traditions to create compositions that evoke stillness, rhythm, and spiritual resonance.

What visitors can expect 🤔

Visitors to the residency will have the opportunity to encounter her paintings up close, observe how these layered compositions unfold, and engage in conversation with the artist about the ideas, philosophies, and visual traditions that inform her practice.

Meet the artist and experience her works during Aayām’s Art Residency Programme — “Traditions in Transition” at Kalaneri Art Gallery between 14–19 March.
