Watch build a complete micro planted aquascape using leftover hardscape materials:

🖤 Base: Aqua soil layer

🪨 Hardscape: Small Ohko (Dragon) stones

🌾 Details: Gravel accents & a cosmetic sand pathway

🔴 Plant: Alternanthera reineckii mini placed right in the center

🔎 Visual: The curve of the jar glass creates a natural fisheye lens effect at the top!

How grows lush Weeping Moss without ever buying more! 🌿✂️

Want thriving weeping moss without making a complete mess in your tank? Here’s everything learned so far:

🧪 Started with ONE cup: Grown entirely from a single tissue culture cup!

🪵 Attachment: Tied to wood using clear fishing line under medium lighting.

💧 Dosing: Simple liquid fertilizer added once every 2 weeks.

🚫✂️ No Scissors in Tank: Never cut it underwater (it strays and sticks everywhere)!

🤌 Pro Pruning Hack: Gently pull off little clumps by hand instead.

🫙 Propagation: Put trimmings in a jar under a grow light to create new stock!

Here’s how I fixed every single problem in my low-tech micro bowl ✂️🌿 bowl

Maintaining a nano aquascape requires a gentle touch and regular maintenance!

Here’s how I got this setup looking fresh again:

🌿 Leggy Weeping Moss: Trimmed short to promote dense, bushy growth.

🍂 AR Mini Care: Removed damaged leaves on the left stem so it can bounce back.

🍀 Hydrocotyle Tripartita: Pruned back the runners before they took over!

🌱 Monte Carlo: Spreading nicely around the river stones.

Precision tweezers are a lifesaver for picking out tiny plant trimmings in a micro setup!

Did you know aquarium plants can actually produce flowers? 🌸🌾✨

In nature, most aquatic plants are naturally amphibious, they grow with their roots under water and their stems/leaves emerging above the surface! 🌿💧

To mimic how they grow in the wild, we built a shallow desk aquascape. Over a few months, it transformed into a thriving mini ecosystem, sending up delicate flowers right above the water line!

4 Months on this aquascape... and I STILL don't like it 🙃

Aquascaping isn't always picture-perfect Instagram tanks—sometimes a project just doesn't hit the mark! Here’s why I’m struggling with this setup after 4 months:

🫧 Background Failure: Water got trapped behind the background film.

🌿 Incomplete Moss: I gave up wrapping moss halfway through because my hands got tired.

🟢 Algae Buildup: Neglected glass cleaning leads to inevitable algae growth. Plus, I’m balancing this reset while working on my secret entry for the IAPLC contest 🤫!

Stop killing your aquarium plants! 🛑🌿 Here’s the secret…

Ever wondered why some of your aquatic plants thrive while others melt away? It all comes down to how they feed!

🌿 Foliage Feeders (Anubias, Bucephalandra):

Absorb nutrients directly through their leaves and stems from the water column.

The Fix: Dose Liquid Fertilizer weekly (1 pump per 10 gallons after a 30% water change).

🌱 Root Feeders (Vallisneria, Taiwan Lily):

Draw essential nutrients directly through their root system deep in the substrate.

The Fix: Insert Root Tabs into the substrate near their roots every 2 months.

Combining both liquid fertilizers and root tabs gives your tank complete nutrient coverage! 🧪✨

Forget standard desk lamps—my 10-gallon nightstand aquarium creates the ultimate cozy ambient glow! I recently stocked it with Golden White Cloud Mountain Minnows (Tanichthys albonubes). While some call them the "poor man's neon tetras," they deserve way more credit: ❄️ Heater-Free: They thrive in cooler water between 18–22°C (64–72°F), meaning no heater needed! 💪 Super Hardy: Resilient, peaceful, and beginner-friendly. 💫 Vibrant Glow: Their golden-orange body and red fins pop against dense green foliage.
