Shangaiparou:

Luwang king Punshiba's elder brother Luwang Putang Loi (koi), though blind and deaf, did not stop wording. One day, as he could not see he made 'peiya' (bamboo chip used for binding) with the side of the 'sangai' (a kind of small slightly curved knife) just opposite to the sharp edge and said that he could not do his work as the 'Sangai' was not sharp. At that his wife Laıroulembı replied that it was not of the bluntness of the knife but because of his using the edgeless said But he took what she said as chiding him and so he bit her reaching with the 'peiya' falling near him. Getting the pain of thrashing Lairoulembi wept shouting loudly When Luwang youths came and asked she reported the story of the quarrel for making 'peiya' with the back of 'sangai' which was should or not. Feeling shame before the people the blind and deaf Luwang Putang Loi meditated by leaving his home. Because of his stern devotion and meditation he was turned into a 'Shangai' (deer). One day when his son Meengamba came to hunt, as he did not know the 'Shangai' was the one turned by his father, he caught it by hurling his spear. The field where 'Shangai' was caught was called 'Shangai Pharou' ultimately deviated to Shangaiprou. (Shangai = deer + prou - pha =catch + rou = field).

Phisukhong:

Tampha Wangamlon Panthoibi without noticing party the of Khaba came secretly and dipped the cloth she wore into the water of the stream flowing on the gorge at the foot of Nongmaijing hill and waited for her lover Nongpok Ningthou by washing her cloth. So the place was called Phisukhong. (Phi = cloth + su = wash + khong = stream).

Nambol: An Account of its Name Origin

According to traditional accounts, two brothers, Ngangoi Yoimongba and Tauthingmang, protected a fishing dam by erecting walls of reeds and bamboo sieves to trap fish moving upstream and downstream. Their catch was so abundant that they could not carry it by hand. Instead, they wrapped the fish in cloth and carried them on their backs.

It is said that the place came to be known as Nambol, derived from the words "Nam" (back) and "Bol" (from poba, meaning "to carry"), referring to the act of carrying the fish on their backs.
