Gross negligence and indifferent attitude towards rural roads development project: Chothe Tribe Union, Manipur Condemns and warn of further agitation and take up legal process.....

Chandonpokpi (Phaipi) Chandel: 07.01.2026

Chothe Lim Abom, Manipur (Chothe Tribe Union) expresses its deep grief, serious concern, and strong condemnation over the prolonged and unjustified delay in the completion of the blacktopping work of Pallel–Chandel Road up to Litan (15 km stretch).

On behalf of thousands of severely affected residents, Chothe Lim Abom, Manipur (CLAM) issues this statement to urgently call upon the concerned authorities and the executing contractor to immediately resume and complete the blacktopping work of the Pallel–Chandel–Litan Road, which spans merely 15 kilometres.

The said project is being executed by EE/PIU-II, Chandel, RED/MSRRDA, Government of Manipur, and is funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, under Package No. 2170, Phase-XI (RT). The blacktopping work was awarded to Special Contractor Shri Mingthing Horam on 6th August 2019, with the stipulated date of completion being 5th February 2021.

It is deeply disturbing that, even after more than four years beyond the stipulated completion date, the project remains unfinished. This gross negligence has resulted in deplorable road conditions, posing serious safety hazards to commuters. The road serves as a critical lifeline for daily commuters, officegoers, teachers, students, traders, and the local population.

The unfinished road surface, strewn with loose stone chips and excessive dust, has turned into a deadly trap for motorists, pedestrians, and residents alike.

Such an indifferent attitude towards public infrastructure is unacceptable and amounts to a grave injustice, as it directly endangers public life and hampers the social and economic well-being of the community.

Chothe Lim Abom, Manipur (CLAM) firmly demands immediate intervention, accountability, and transparency from the Government and the executing agency. The contractor must mobilize adequate manpower and machinery without further delay and ensure the immediate completion of the blacktopping work to the required standards.

The Union expresses its strong resentment over repeated empty assurances and continued silence from the responsible authorities. In the interest of public safety, CLAM also strongly advises timber traders and other business operators to refrain from using this hazardous road, particularly during late-night hours from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM, until the road is made safe for use.

Chothe Lim Abom, Manipur (CLAM) once again urges the concerned authorities to take immediate and decisive action in the interest of public welfare.

Failure to act promptly will compel the Union to pursue all necessary legal and democratic avenues to ensure accountability and to secure the completion of the project to the highest standards, solely for the benefit of the general public.

Uncertainty Deepens: ISL Clubs, Players and Coaches Raise Alarm Over League Standstill

The future of the Indian Super League (ISL) remains uncertain:

-Ten ISL clubs have accused the AIFF of “breach of trust” over the delay in finalising a commercial partner.
- With contracts expired, clubs say they cannot plan, invest, or pay staff — some have already paused salaries.
-Players and coaches are publicly pleading for answers.

Letter signed by 10 ISL clubs:
“This delay threatens irreversible damage to the football ecosystem.”

STATMENTS FROM THE PLAYERS:

SUNIL CHHETRI: “Everybody in Indian football is worried, hurt, scared about the uncertainty.”

ISL FOREIGN PLAYERS: “Patience has been replaced with anxiety, livelihoods are on the line.”

SANDESH JHINGAN:“Dreams are paused, future being questioned… We want a quick resolution.”

AIFF RESPONSE:“We are committed to continuity of the ISL but must follow legal directives.”

⚽ Players are ready:Clubs are ready.
❓ Everyone is waiting on one decision.

Indian football cannot afford to stand still or DIE

Imphal 3rd Nov. 2025:

From Imphal, a 45-minute flight to Guwahati now costs more than a 3-hour flight to Delhi. With the cheapest fares seen at ₹14,328 for Imphal–Guwahati on November 5 and ₹10,037 for Imphal–Delhi on the same day, local travel agencies say airlines are exploiting stranded flyers amid ongoing conflict and highway closures.

Demand-driven “dynamic pricing” is blamed, exacerbated by May 3, 2023, violence and forced reliance on air travel. Agencies have appealed to the PMO, DGCA, and the state government to intervene. Flyers say the burden hits poor and medical-travel-bound commuters hardest when other travel modes are blocked.

A letter to the Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation,Government of India was submitted by L. Sushildro, MLA Khurai constituency, urging an increase in the frequency of flights on the Imphal–Guwahati and Imphal–Kolkata routes. The limited number of flights has caused airfares to skyrocket, creating serious inconvenience for the public. To address this grievance and make air travel affordable, I have strongly appealed for both an increase in flight frequency and a reduction in airfare said, MLA Khurai Constituency
