Today, I had the honour to attend the Phiroi, the first death anniversary ritual of the legendary Oja Ratan Thiyam, at Chorus Repertory Theatre.

Witnessing the Sankirtan, the prayers and the offerings in that very space was a deeply moving experience. I offered flowers with a heart full of gratitude, respect and a silent prayer for his eternal peace.

Standing there, I couldn’t help but feel the presence of everything he createdβ€”the theatre, the vision, the discipline, the dreams and the energy he left behind.

I pray that his journey, his wisdom and the immense energy he devoted to theatre continue to pour upon us as a blessing, guiding and inspiring generations of artists to come.

Some journeys end, but the energy of a true artist never does.

Your theatre remains.
Your legacy remains.
And your spirit will continue to live through the generations you inspired.
