We stand in quiet grief at the loss of Padma Shri Raghu Rai (1942- 2026), the man who didn’t just photograph India, but felt it, lived it, and showed its soul to the world.

He was a constant inspiration and an integral part of the Indian Photo Festival. His association with IPF brought generations of photographers closer to the power of honest storytelling, shaping conversations around the craft.

Through decades of work that documented India’s most defining moments and quiet truths, he redefined photojournalism and set the benchmark for visual storytelling in the country, like no other.

His images will continue to speak, provoke, and inspire and his legacy will continue to guide every frame we create.

Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Last chance to see the exhibitions at the 11th edition of the Indian Photo Festival.

Currently on view at the – Lingering Shadows by Nazanin Alipour Jeddi // Iran

Venue - State Art Gallery, Hyderabad
Date - on view till 04 Jan 2026 / 11 AM - 6 PM

The photography series Lingering Shadows is an attempt to capture the simple yet complex and often hidden moments that women experience in their everyday lives. It explores the silent beauty found in the overlooked rituals of daily routines. Through subtle gestures — pouring tea, preparing food, pausing in stillness — this series honors the emotional depth that lies beneath the surface of repetition. The dominant blue tones evoke fatigue and isolation, yet within this quiet rhythm exists strength, resilience, and an unspoken grace. These images suggest that beauty often resides in what is unseen, uncelebrated, but deeply felt.

The goal of the series is to invite viewers to reconsider the often unnoticed aspects of women’s lives — revealing the emptiness, futility, and emotional complexity within these seemingly ordinary experiences.

These photographs are not only a personal narrative but also a reflection of the shared, collective experience of women around the world.

Happy New Year Everyone!!! Currently on view at the – Impermanent Masks by Alessandro Celante // Brazil

Venue - State Art Gallery, Hyderabad
Date - on view till 04 Jan 2026 / 11 AM - 6 PM

Impermanent Masks by Brazilian artist Alessandro Celante explores how modern life erodes our ability to truly perceive the world and ourselves. Using death as a metaphor for sensory and emotional loss, the project reflects on how fleeting cultures and digital identities have turned us into impermanent versions of ourselves. The work begins with an immersive photographic process in which volunteers lie in a small pool filled with water and dry ice. Their senses are disrupted by cold, muffled sound, and limited vision, creating a state of perceptual reset that mirrors our fragile connection to reality. The exhibition continues this immersion for viewers, inviting them to confront how detached human experience has become in a world saturated with images and fleeting impressions.

Celante’s long-standing fascination with the impossibility of seeing one’s own face drives the project. He views photography not just as an image-making tool but as a means of examining existence itself. For him, we are not only consumers of images but also images in motion, constantly shaped by perception and memory. Impermanent Masks thus become both a meditation on identity and a sensory experience that reawakens our awareness of presence and absence in contemporary life.

Currently on view at the - Blueming by Hari Priya // INDIA

Venue - State Art Gallery, Hyderabad
Date - on view till 04 Jan 2026 /  11 AM - 6 PM

Blueming explores the artist’s emotional and psychological response to moving from Hyderabad to New York - a transition from calm familiarity to overwhelming urban intensity. Seeking balance, she found solace by the Hudson River, where time spent near water became meditative and grounding. This experience led her to explore the therapeutic effects of water, often described as the “blue mind” state, where proximity to water induces calm and mental clarity.

Drawing from neuroscientific ideas and personal reflection, the project uses cyanotypes to symbolize this soothing mental space. The deep blues represent emotional stillness, while sculptural wooden forms evoke physical presence and grounding. Inspired by the quiet resilience of lichen and moss—organisms that thrive through stillness and supportive environments - Hari Priya uses them as metaphors for personal growth.

Through performative self-portraiture, she places her own body within these imagined landscapes, becoming a surface where growth occurs. The work reflects on how healing and transformation can emerge through stillness, connection, and nurturing surroundings. Ultimately, Blueming invites viewers to experience the same sense of calm, introspection, and quiet wonder found in lush waterscapes.

Set in war-torn Ukraine, this project explores the intimate and human dimensions of the full-scale Russian invasion, tracing grief, loss, and the profound ways war alters identity, memory, and the texture of daily life.

Looking beyond the headlines and with a tender lens, it turns to the unfolding aftermath to preserve its memory. Through portraits of love, both enduring and broken, as well as fleeting moments of joy and resilience, it reflects the suffering and resilience of those caught in the conflict, offering an inward gaze into these dark times.

Amidst the noise of war, it captures a longing that endures, stronger than violence, for justice, truth, love, and peace. It also aims to serve as a body of evidence.
