While the piece praises Studio Bind’s incredible animation, writer Lewis Parker argues the show has a massive, poorly written "ped*philic elephant in the room." The critique centers on the protagonist, Rudeus, a 34-year-old man reincarnated in a child's body who retains his adult memories. Rather than undergoing a true redemption arc, the article points out that Rudeus uses his new life to groom young characters, like Eris, whom he met when she was 9 and he was mentally 41.

The critique notes that by season two, the story seemingly rewards his behavior with a harem to cure his "depression-induced erectile dysfunction" rather than offering any real comeuppance. Ultimately, Parker argues that fans need to stop tricking unsuspecting viewers into watching a series that isn't just highly problematic, but fundamentally bad writing.
