Department of mechanical engineering always believes in its student’s innovative ideas, this is the reason for introducing “Innovation and Research Expo” in Mecharena 2k18. Now we are extending this exciting platform for the students from across all Engineering Colleges to exhibit their Innovative and game changing ideas related to the future of MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. The students can interact with other students from different colleges and can exchange their ideas for improvising their already existing idea. The ideas presented will be evaluated by a panel of Judges from prominent Research institutes like DRDL, BHEL, and others, Venture capitalists etc, and they will judge the presented ideas and give some valuable suggestions for the future research. Also, Navadhara gives exciting prizes to encourage the students for future work on their ideas.
Eligibility: A team of maximum 4 members, need not be from same stream and same college but at least one member should be from mechanical stream.
STREAMS:
1. Thermal Engineering
2. Design
3. Metrology and Instrumentation
4. Manufacturing
5. Mechatronics
6. Material processing
7. Bio mechanics, Bio mimics
8. Renewable energy
9. Robotics and Automation
10. Green energy initiatives
11. Automobile
12. Aeronautics and aviation
13. Aerospace
14. CFD
15. Any field not mentioned which is interdisciplinary with mechanical is also accepted. (contact the organizer in case of doubts regarding ELIGIBILITY.)
About ideas: Ideas should be feasible to make a prototype and should be useful to present a technical environment. The feasibility of any idea to make a prototype will serve as very important parameter for the selection process.
HOW TO REGISTER: The team shall first register for the event by providing the details of the team i.e. number of participants, contact details through an email.
Teams must submit abstract before February 27th 2019. After the completion of event the organizing committee will declare the results in the website or on the page.
Things to be submitted along with Abstract:

2. Objective and motivation behind the project
3. Abstract – maximum of 2 pages (IEEE format is preferred) (should contain introduction, problem statement, methodology and expected outcomes)
4. What are you planning to exhibit (mode of exhibition i.e. prototype/ simulation etc)?
Format of the competition:
Stage 1:
Teams will be selected based on the abstracts.
Stage 2:
All the selected teams will have to exhibit their innovations during Mecharena 2k19. Where the judges will be reviewing your innovation, after your PRESENTATION.
Prizes:

Judging:
The judging will be based on the pitch given by the teams about their project on both the days.
Judging Methodology:
1. For the innovation: 30%
2. Clarity about the innovation: 30%
3. Feasibility of the innovation in to realisable prototype: 30%
4. Usefulness to the society: 10%
The team can exhibit their ideas in any of the following or combination from the following:
1. Working model/ prototype
2. Animations/simulations
3. Through CAD/CAE models
4. Poster presentations (poster size: 36” *48”)
Even though the prototype is not compulsory, it can boost your chances of winning.
Schedule:
1st march: Selected teams should register at the registration desk and prepare their project at the place allotted to the team. The event starts after the inaugural of the Mecharena 2k19. The event is open for all including public for two days.
