The part most people don't know is former WWE writers have said Stephanie was personally in the room helping put the worst part of it together, alongside Vince.

Jim Ross flat out called it an embarrassment on his own podcast years later. Then in 2021, right before Kane's Hall of Fame induction, Stephanie actually came out and apologized to him for it publicly. 19 years later. 😬

The Ultimate Warrior was set to return to WWE games in SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain (2003) — his first game appearance since the 90s. Instead, he did the opposite of every other star: he sued WWE and THQ to keep himself out.

Warrior's relationship with Vince McMahon had collapsed into a decades-long feud, and the lawsuit targeted the Create-A-Wrestler mode, fighting over players' ability to build characters that looked like him. He was cut from the game.
Most wrestlers fought to get in the games — the Ultimate Warrior went to court to stay out. The two sides didn't reconcile until 2014, shortly before his de@th.

In 1995, WWE released WrestleMania: The Arcade Game — built by Midway, the studio behind Mortal Kombat. It barely resembled wrestling. Wrestlers shot projectiles, pulled weapons out of thin air, and chained combos like a fighting game.

The Undertaker fired flying spirits, Razor Ramon's arm transformed into a blade, Bam Bam Bigelow's fists caught fire, and Doink the Clown zapped people with a joy buzzer.

Real wrestling moves took a backseat to magic attacks — and Vince McMahon was on commentary yelling "Boom-shakalaka," an NBA Jam reference.

In 2001, WWF released Just Bring It on PlayStation 2. Fred Durst — frontman of Limp Bizkit, one of the biggest bands on the planet at the time — appears as a fully playable, unlockable wrestler.
He didn't earn the spot. It was a trade. Limp Bizkit gave WWE the rights to use their song "Rollin'" as The Undertaker's entrance theme.
In exchange, Fred Durst got coded into the game as a playable character.
