Three girls allegedly committed su***de in separate incidents in the city on Tuesday.

■ In the first incident, a teenaged girl died, allegedly by su***de, after she reportedly jumped from the 23rd floor of an apartment complex at Nanakramguda late on Monday. She is suspected to have been depressed over family problems, the police said. The victim, identified as Esha Ranjan (17), an Intermediate student from a private college was staying on the 23rd floor of the multi-storied complex along with her mother. Police said Esha, who was depressed over personal problems, was believed to have jumped from the balcony of her house. She died on the spot. No su***de note was found from the spot.

■ In the second incident, an intermediate student committed su***de by jumping from her college building at Mallepally in Habeebnagar here on Tuesday. The reason for the su***de was yet to be known, police said. According to the police, the girl identified as Shifa Naaz (17) jumped from the corridor on the fourth floor of the college building, even as her friends and other students in the college were present. “Other students alerted the college authorities, who rushed her to a private hospital in Nampally, where she was declared dead by the doctors,” the Habeebnagar police said, adding that no su***de note or anything indicating why the girl could have resorted to the extreme step was known. Enquiries were on with her family members and friends.

■ In the third incident, an engineering final year student committed su***de by jumping from a multi-storied building at Maisammaguda in Petbasheerabad.

200 quintals of PDS rice seized in Warangal

The Task Force police seized 200 quintals of PDS rice, a lorry, and a motorcycle and arrested one person on Friday.

The police caught the accused while the PDS rice bags were being loaded into a lorry for illegal smuggling to Maharashtra.

The arrested person was identified as Motam Anil of Hasanparthy.

Two other accused identified as Chittari Yerragattu and Puranam Jampaiah of Mulkanoor village of Bheemadevarapally mandal are absconding.

Task Force Inspectors Nandiram Naik and G Madhu said that they handed over the rice, vehicles, and the accused to the KUC police for registering a case and further investigation.

The total value of the seized rice is Rs 4.60 lakh.

Three held in Falaknuma murder case

Jabbar was attacked by a few persons with lethal weapons near the City Plaza function hall on Ansari Road on Friday afternoon. He died while under treatment in hospital. Late in the night, the Falaknuma police detained three persons for questioning. It is learned that Jabbar was murdered by gang members of Shanoor Ghazi, who was murdered eight months ago at Kalapather. Jabbar was one of the suspects in the case and was arrested by the Kalapather police then.

Police said L Supraja (27) from Dwarakapuri Colony had left home on Wednesday informing her parents that she was going to enquire about admission process at a private law college in LB Nagar, but did not return. 18-year-old boy was booked for allegedly ra**ng a three-and-half year old girl when she was alone at her home at a village in Bhainsa mandal on Wednesday.

Bhainsa Rural Sub-Inspector Punnam Chand said that the accused was a neighbour of the victim.

The youngster r***d the girl while she was playing in front of her residence when her parents were working in an agriculture field.

The parents returned home only to realise that their child was sexually assaulted by their neighbour.

They lodged a complaint with police.

A case was registered against the teenager and investigations were taken up.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is undergoing treatment at a state-run hospital here following the alleged attack on her in Nandigram is “stable” now, and doctors are planning to conduct a series of medical tests, including a CT scan, to assess the degree of her injury, sources at the facility said on Thursday.

Preliminary medical tests conducted on Banerjee late on Wednesday night detected severe bone injuries in her left ankle and foot, and injuries in her right shoulder, forearm and neck, they said.

Banerjee sustained injuries on her left leg and waist as she fell on the ground after she was allegedly pushed by unknown miscreants while campaigning for assembly elections in Nandigram.
