Students’ Experience in Inter-state Living (SEIL) is a voluntary organization sponsored by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. SEIL was born in 1966 when a group of karyakartas visited distant border areas in the North-East. Their experience led to a strong belief that inter-state living experience especially amongst the youth and students could play a decisive role in creating a bond of understan
ding between parts of this vast country. Cultural assimilation thought emotional bonding was the simple yet effective tool that was promulgated. It is registered under societies Registration Act 1860 and also under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 bearing Public Trust Reg. No. F -1464 and celebrating Golden Jubilee on 4th January,2016. Objectives:
1. To bridge the communication gap between different parts of the country particularly the North Eastern India and all such remote border areas and the rest of the country.
2. To find out the similarities in the divergent life styles particularly of our border area people and people in other parts.
3.To create greater awareness about the remote areas and people over there and also to develop an understanding about the problem there all over the country.
4.To establish a cultural rapport and to provide opportunities to the youth of the country to experience the unity in its diversity. Activities:
SEIL has regularly organized exchange programs of the north-eastern students and more than thousand students have had an opportunity to enrich their lives. Their stay is always at a ‘Home away from Home’ with host families spread across the country including the North-East region. These have transcended beyond the realms of ‘mere’ cultural – exchange programs and have become a vehicle of social change and of national integration at a purely experiential level through sharing of knowledge, aspirations, and thoughts amongst the same generation. Many leading personalities of our country have blessed these visiting students over the years. You are aware that such initiatives by organizations like SEIL can achieve the desired results through the support and encouragement from likeminded people, institutions and organizations like you who are socially responsible and have the national interests on their agenda.
