between rural crafts and urban markets.

There is a need to let Art flourish through the city and, this need has been growing immensely every

other day. Guwahati is a cupful of immense talent and, experimentation as well as exposure should

follow course, to let the impact spread with gusto. Maati, a space that reckons with this understanding

and importance of Art as a significant entity, has come to carry on the endeavors to make Art

flourish

and find its platform. To develop a community of artists and audiences who are in it for their artistic

streak and love for Art and culture. The objective is to build a firm base focused on art, culture,

education and rural entrepreneurship. This is a platform that wants to fill in the gaps that hinder the progress of artists and Art itself. To

promote artistic and cultural consciousness, and to provide accessibility, the centre wants to promote

various talents from within the region as well from outside it. The gallery shall be the cherry on pie to

allow artists and entrepreneurs to showcase their contemporary, folk, rural etc art. Maati centre is an attempt at providing a sizeable platform for products and innovative art and craft

items carrying its traditional essence from places around the country. We believe that access to knowledge through mapping and documentation is the basis of safeguarding

the intangible heritage of crafts, textiles, folk and tribal arts and the bearers of the oral- knowledge

systems. Let the stir begin!
