IIIT Guwahati's YUVAAN presents first pre - event on Creative Writing Workshop in association with Wissenmonk by Acclaimed Poet Saikh Md. Sabah Al-Ahmed
The Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati in collaboration with WissenMonk hosted a one-day Creative Writing Workshop on 10th February 2023, to let students engage in the art of storytelling and enhance their writing skills. The workshop was organized by the IIITG Cultural Board as a pre-event of Yuvaan 2023, the annual cultural fest of IIIT Guwahati, which is set to be held on the 4th and 5th of March this year.
Addressing the inaugural session, Prof Rajarshi Mitra, HoD, Humanities and Social Sciences, felicitated the poet and lead faculty of WissenMonk Academy of Creative Writing, Saikh Md. Sabah Al-Ahmed and the founder of WissenMonk, Bhargab Bharali.
The workshop began with an introduction to WissenMonk, a leading literary startup in North-East India. Renowned litterateur from Assam, Saikh Md. Sabah Al-Ahmed spoke about the different principles, techniques, and styles of poetry writing, article writing, content writing, and copywriting.
A recipient of the Reuel International Prize for Poetry (2019) and the āCertificate of Excellenceā by the United Nations Association of Assam, Ahmed has years of experience as a poet, lyricist, columnist, and freelance journalist. He highlighted the fact that oneās writing needs to ābe good in life, rather than being perfectā, and emphasized the importance of revision and editing and how they can significantly improve oneās writing.
The workshop gathered enthusiastic participation in large numbers from students of the institute. The participants also received signed limited edition books by the poet.
