Only human beings have the ability to seek growth and improvement.

We have the capacity to consciously change the direction of our lives to enrich and deepen our lives instead of just allowing them to flow on aimlessly..

I have been practicing Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism for the past 12 years. For the Gathering of Hope event celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Women's Division, I was invited to create a Tree of Victory, where each participant was invited to write a hope or desire on a paper leaf and place it on the tree.

Buddhism teaches us to create joy in our own lives and in the lives of others. The activity beautifully reflected this spirit, as all the women enthusiastically participated, filling the Tree of Victory with their hopes and aspirations. It was heartwarming to witness the excitement, unity, and joy that the activity inspired, making the celebration even more meaningful and memorable for everyone.

I have been a Nichiren Daishonin Buddhist practitioner for the past 12 years, and for the Gathering of Hope event celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Women’s Division, I was invited to create a welcome painting.

The sun painting( depicting hope) was warmly appreciated by the leaders, and was converted into 75 printed bookmarks featuring the same design, which were distributed to every woman who attended the event.

Buddhist philosophy has taught me to keep creating causes for future happiness through my thoughts, words, and actions. I feel deeply grateful and fortunate to have had this opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way through my art. 🙏🏼

Creating and responding to art is a natural part of human nature — just like speaking, loving, dreaming, or expressing emotions. Human beings are not merely practical creatures who eat, work, and survive. We also experience wonder, sadness, joy, fear, curiosity, and imagination. Art becomes a way of expressing these inner experiences that words alone often cannot fully capture.

Even the earliest humans, who struggled daily for survival, created cave paintings, music, body decorations, and rituals. This tells us something profound: art was never created merely for luxury or entertainment. It emerged from a deep inner need to express, communicate, and make meaning of life.

When we see a child naturally begin to draw even before learning complex language, it reminds us that creativity is not something taught later — it is an inherent part of being human. Art, in many ways, is one of the purest expressions of our humanity.
