This year the Pinnacle Diwali mela is proud to partner with "Prachyesta – Ek Prayas". This organization acts as a bridge to connect under privileged kids with no access to formal schooling to a level where they are absorbed in mainstream and also endeavors in imparting life developmental skills.
"Prachyesta is an effort by a group of friends from different walks of life to bring about some small change in the lives of under-privileged families. We started a small school almost three years back with a hope to support and polish the brilliance of the underprivileged children who have had no or very little access to formal schooling. Our endeavour is to try and bring these children to a level whereby they can be included into mainstream schooling through some formal means. Our efforts reached its first its first milestone when 19 of our students got admission to formal schools in year 2015. While 6 of our girls were admitted to ‘Amitasha’ school run by Amity group, 13 of our children started formal schooling at Suncity Government School. The children are in various classes starting for class 1 to class 4. This has not only made our volunteers and teachers more committed to our cause, it has made the community more focussed towards
educating their children. Presently we have 50 students.
The school curriculum is based on a structured approach with interesting methodology and pedagogy for all the cognitive areas. Through Art and Craft classes the school also endeavours to cater vocational skills like painting, knitting, candle making, origami handicraft making etc. Spirituality, hygiene and manners are
introduced and practiced on a regular basis.
The classes are divided into three groups based on age as well as level of the children. Different curricula have been defined for the three groups and a yearly plan drawn, which is followed. Daily classes are held and all of us work on a rotational basis, while two teachers have been hired to work on a daily basis. Continuity of teaching is maintained by having a defined daily plan for all teachers. This also ensures that we are able to cover all aspects that we need to. We have recently taken aboard 3 more volunteers to take care of the third group of children. While we do not provide mid day meal, we provide the children a healthy
snack (consisting of sandwiches/fruits/glucose biscuits etc.) on daily basis.
We have formally registered Prachyesta Ek Prayas as a not for profit society. Our main source of funds, at
the moment, is our personal contributions as well as contributions from family and friends.
