Naadyatra Foundation Residential Musical Retreats with workshops, discussions, lessons & music concerts Naad Yatra literally means ‘the journey with sound’.

In Yogic cosmology and Science, it is said that the Universe is made up of Sound. All matter is considered to be vibrating at certain frequencies. Beyond the physical phenomena and matter, is a primal creative sound vibration that is said to have begun the process of creation. In Hinduism, this earliest sound vibration is called Naad. "Naad" means "the cosmic sound" or "vibrations of the cosmos".

It is the essence of all sound. It is the vibrational harmony through which the Infinite can be experienced. Said simply, Naad is the sound that helps you to connect with yourself. Through Naad, you can actually get to Brahma (the Universal self). India has a very rich heritage of music. Music that has its origins from the Vedas, the first scriptures. Naad Yatra is our attempt to take seekers on a yatra (journey) with Naad (sound). Through ‘Naad Yatra’, we intend to introduce you to different sounds of music in order for you to be able to use ‘Naad’ in your inward journey to connect with yourself, know yourself, to better understand and appreciate Indian music. What we offer is a 5-days Musical Retreat (a FIRST of its kind) that is specially designed keeping in mind the objective of using sound to discover yourself/ connect with yourself/ develop a deep understanding and appreciation of sound. These sessions can be attended by anyone. Prior training in music is not necessary for participation.

Combining the ancient musical practice of Kharaj Riyaaz and Dhyaan (contemplation, meditation, mind-less-ness), the Swar Dhyaan sessions have been designed by Padma Shri Gundecha Brothers.

The inaugral session will be conducted by Pandit Umakant Gundecha ji himself. Guruji will demonstrate and teach the right way to practice swar dhyaan (Kharaj).

The subsequent sessions will be conducted by senior students of the Dhrupad Sansthan and members of the Naadyatra faculty - Sanjeev Jha, Ahsan Zulkernaeen Niloy, Janhavi Phansalkar, Sajan Sankaran, Anjana Iyer, Dhani Gundecha & Anant Gundecha.

The Dhrupad Sansthan Gurukul presents 10 days of live concerts, featuring the best young Dhrupad musicians from around the world streamed online so that people may view them from wherever they are.

These are strange and difficult times, when an unseen virus has wreaked havoc upon the global community and brought the world to a standstill. We believe that art plays a very crucial role in society, and especially so when humanity is together going through a difficult situation.

Prashanti has been specially curated to provide solace & inspiration through poetry by ancient & modern poets like Kabir, Tulsidas, Prabhakar, Nirala etc which have been composed in the Dhrupad format by Padmashri Gundecha Brothers. AND, mindfulness and thoughtlessness through

Dhrupad. Dhrupad - the oldest form of Indian Classical music - is a very meditative, contemplative and uplifting musical form ,and we hope that this initiative and the musical offerings of the brilliant young artists trained at our Gurukul being you some much needed respite through the days of lockdown!
