Surajpur is an excellent example of an urban wetland in Yamuna River basin and forms suitable breeding ground for waterfowl such as Spot-billed Duck, Lesser-whistling Duck, Cotton Pygmy Goose and Comb Duck and wintering waterfowl such as Red-crested Pochard, Ferruginous Pochard, Bar-headed Goose, Greylag Goose, Common Teal, Northern Shoveler and Gadwall.

More than 180 species of birds are found here , comprising woodland (99 species) , water (82), and grassland ( 49) ..
More than 13 species of fish, 58 species of invertebrates ( butterflies etc) and 8 species of reptiles are reported .

The wetland sets a unique example of protection and conservation of biodiversity close to urban areas.

INTACH Noida chapter has taken some initiatives to connect to awareness raising activities and supporting conservation efforts …

INTACH, National Heritage Quiz was successfully organized under the joint supervision of Intach, Bihar and Sanjay Gandhi Biological Garden, Patna. All delighted by the quiz master Mr. Atul Priyadarshi, IRS selected. Mr Vidya Bhushan Kumar, IFS (Rtd) Convenor, Intach, Noida Chapter. Dr. Umesh Chandra Dwivedi, Mrs. Rashmi Priyadarshi, Prof. Anamika Nandan, Mr. Dilip Verma, Prof. Dr. N.K. Agrawal, (Convenor, Darbhanga Chapter) Dr. Raman, Co- Convenor, graced the occasion . Two teams were selected for national level quiz competition.
