यूँ तो बदनाम मेरी मोहब्बत सारे बाज़ार हो गई,
जिसे दिल में सजाया था वही अख़बार हो गई।
लोग पूछते हैं अब भी किस बात की सज़ा मिली,
मैं मुस्कुरा के कहती हूँ—बस मोहब्बत गुनाहगार हो गई।
वो जो कहते थे “तेरे बिना साँस भी अधूरी है”,
आज वही मेरी यादों से भी बेज़ार हो गई।
हमने तो चाहा था इबादत की तरह निभाना उसे,
पर दुनिया की नज़र में ये बस एक प्यार हो गई।
दर्द को हमने महफ़िल में ग़ज़ल की शक्ल दे दी,
देखते ही देखते मेरी ख़ामोशी शेर-ओ-शायरी का आधार हो गई।
नीतू ने दिल की बात कही तो लोग हँसते रहे,
सच जब लफ़्ज़ों में ढला तो वही तलवार हो गई।
