Biswajit Das, in collaboration with Bulbul Das, Priti Sinha, Biswajeet Nath, and Protim Saikia, organized an innovative workshop today to celebrate World Environment Day. This workshop engaged children from a local school, aiming to instill the importance of daily environmental conservation practices in the form of one page comics. Discussions were held on pressing environmental issues, such as plastic pollution, particularly the detrimental impact of single-use plastics on marine life and oceans and then the students created more than 200 one page comics in less than one hour.

The event successfully showcased the children's active involvement and their fresh perspectives on environmental issues. The comics they produced captured their dedication and enthusiasm for protecting nature, making the workshop a memorable and impactful celebration of World Environment Day.

time : 8 AM onwards

Some guidelines to follow
1. Carry your own sketchbook, drawing material such as pencil, pens, marker.
2. You have to buy your own ticket for the zoo entry. or else contact one of our member directly.

For our second edition of monthly one page comic zine, we asking comic makers those who have made comics around or related to water reservoir or water bodies.We request comic makers to mail their black and white one page comic.

This edition will be dedicated to our those water bodies, whice play a major role in ecology and now surviving because of urbanization.

The Gathan art collective, in collaboration with Biswajit Das, has initiated a monthly zine of one page graphic narratives that are open for all to participate in. After launching our inaugural issue in March, we are currently compiling the second issue about different stories around our beloved Deepor Beel wetland in Guwahati. We had an insightful walk led by Pramod Da and Siddharth on Saturday, where participants gained profound insights into the wetland's significance and its pivotal role in our city's biodiversity. We observed firsthand the rapid changes brought about by development and pollution, which are detrimentally affecting the ecosystem. Walking through the wetland, witnessing its fading beauty and dwindling life, compelled us to document the transformations occurring at a rapid pace. Our aim is to portray the essence of Deepor Beel and the urgency of balancing progress with nature preservation through the medium of comics. This session served as a poignant exploration of the delicate equilibrium between human development and the conservation of our natural heritage.

We are going try to publish a comic zine every month. Every one can send us their one page comics for comic zine.
For this month we are going walk through the Deepor beel and try to develop some comics around around the lake.

We will be joined by FREINDS OF DEEPOR BEEL and local conservationist PROMOD KALITA. They have been working around the DEEPOR BEEL for a long time and they will guide us to explore the soroundings of the DEEPOR BEEL.
