🚀💥 “I was kicked out of my own company. I teetered on the edge of bankruptcy… and yet, I still sent a rocket into space.” 🚀💥
Growing up in South Africa, I found refuge in books while the world bullied me relentlessly. Broken noses, constant mockery, feeling like I didn’t belong — it all could have broken me. But it didn’t. It pushed me to learn, to create. By 10, I was coding. By 12, I sold my first software. I left home with just two suitcases, a heart full of dreams, and a mind hungry for possibility.
PayPal was my first big venture, and being forced out nearly crushed me. But heartbreak became fuel. I poured everything into Tesla and SpaceX, even when both were on the brink of collapse. In 2008, I lay on the factory floor, terrified I had made a fatal mistake. 💔
SpaceX rockets failed again and again — first, second, third. The fourth? It finally flew. Tesla faced ridicule — “Electric cars will never work,” they mocked. Still, I refused to stop. I slept at the factory, risked every dollar, and fought for every dream. Today, those so-called “impossible” ideas are transforming industries worth hundreds of billions. 🔋🚘
True success isn’t luck. It’s the courage to keep going when everything seems lost. “If you’re not willing to fail, you’re not ready to change the world. Pressure doesn’t break you — it builds you.”
