: A section of the national highway in Assam’s Dhubri district turned into a drying yard for crops as several farmers spread paddy, maize and wheat across the road surface, disrupting the movement of vehicles and causing inconvenience to commuters.

The incident was reported from Tamarhat, where large portions of the highway were covered with harvested crops laid out for drying. Visuals from the area showed grains spread across both sides of the road, making traffic movement difficult.

Police later launched a clearance drive and removed the crops from the highway to restore normal vehicular movement in the area.

: The Assam Cricket Museum was formally inaugurated on Monday, May 18, at the 91 Yards Club inside the ACA Stadium complex in Barsapara, marking a major milestone in the history of cricket in Assam.

The museum was inaugurated by Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia, ACA President Taranga Gogoi, former cricketers, members of the cricket fraternity and officials of the Assam Cricket Association.

On the occasion, a special documentary titled The Golden Innings- Legacy of Assam Cricket was also officially released. The documentary traces the journey of cricket in Assam through major achievements, historic moments and the contributions of former cricketers and administrators who played a key role in the development of the sport in the state.

The newly inaugurated Assam Cricket Museum showcases rare cricket memorabilia, historic photographs, vintage cricket equipment, trophies, archival records, mementos and several other exhibits linked to Assam’s rich cricketing legacy.

The museum and documentary were conceptualised by Devajit Saikia, who is also the General Secretary of 91 Yards Club, as a tribute to the pioneers and contributors who helped popularise cricket across Assam.

: Fuel prices witnessed another hike in Assam on Tuesday as oil companies increased petrol and diesel rates amid rising global crude oil prices triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

Petrol prices in the state rose by 91 paise per litre, increasing from Rs 101.20 to Rs 102.11 per litre. Diesel prices, meanwhile, went up by 95 paise per litre, rising from Rs 92.49 to Rs 93.44 per litre.

The latest revision comes just days after oil marketing companies announced a nationwide Rs 3 per litre hike in fuel prices on May 15.

International crude oil prices have surged sharply over the past few weeks due to escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, putting pressure on domestic fuel prices across the country.

: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-I, has issued a new notification allowing Class IX students to study General Mathematics and General Science in English medium, irrespective of the medium chosen for their other subjects.

According to the notice issued on May 16, students studying in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo or any other medium can now opt for Maths and Science in English medium, provided the school has the required teaching facilities.

The board also clarified that no changes will be required in the ongoing Class IX registration process for the 2026–27 academic session. ASSEB stated that the medium mentioned during registration will not create any issue in future examinations.

Further, the board informed that students’ subject-wise medium details will be recorded during the HSLC examination process to ensure proper evaluation of answer scripts.

: Thousands of students studying under colleges affiliated with Bodoland University have raised serious concerns over alleged result errors and examination irregularities.

According to students, several candidates who appeared for examinations were marked absent in their results, while some previously cleared backlog papers reportedly reappeared. Students also alleged that certain results are missing from the university website, creating confusion and uncertainty.

Many students claimed they have repeatedly visited the university, submitted applications, sent emails, and filed RTI requests seeking clarification, but are yet to receive proper responses. Concerns have also been raised over the lack of clarity regarding the 7th and 8th semester examination schedules.

The ongoing issues have reportedly affected students applying for jobs and higher studies, with many expressing frustration over delays and repeated travel expenses in search of answers.
